We don’t have our gallery plus auto checked.
Another strong week with around 130 sold items for about $4,700. Funny thing is we actually made more money last year than this year, but our holiday sales have been better than ever. I didn’t work for around 3 months at the beginning of the year, so it’s not too surprising that we made less.
We tried free shipping a long time ago, and other than losing us money, it didn’t change our sales much.
Happy Holidays!
12/12/2016 at 5:00 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 288: The War Of Attrition Will Not Grind Us Down #7916Our average price sold over the last few years has been about $35. Lately it’s been lower because of the constant sales and promotions, but this week we managed to sell a lot of higher priced items. Normally when we sell over $4,000 in a week while running a sale, our average price sold is lower.
12/12/2016 at 2:20 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 288: The War Of Attrition Will Not Grind Us Down #7886They always work well for us, but we’re listing a ton of clothing every week. My partner/fiancee (recently got engaged), has been doing an amazing job finding inventory to sell.
12/12/2016 at 1:23 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 288: The War Of Attrition Will Not Grind Us Down #7866We’ve been running weekly store wide sales of 15% – 30% off, but we’ve managed to keep our average price sold at $37, and we sold about 135 items for a 1st time ever grand total over $5,000!
12/06/2016 at 4:17 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 287: How Is the Holiday Selling Season for You? #7417Our average selling price is still around $35 per item and we sell around 100 items a week. Sometimes our average price is much higher and we sell fewer items or vice versa. Lately over average price has gone down because of our sales/promotions, but we’ve been selling a lot more items.
We can definitely feel the competition more than we used to. We see more people professionally shopping for clothing at the same places, and we’re seeing lower average selling prices on eBay. We’ve always worked hard to find cool things and take professional photos, and I think that’s really helped us stay about as profitable as we’ve ever been.
12/06/2016 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 287: How Is the Holiday Selling Season for You? #7371Between both stores we’ve been selling $3,200 to $4,400 every week since the end of August, but we’ve also been running constant sales and promotions. I think once you’ve had the new hire listing like she has been for the next few months, you’ll see your sales picking up substantially.
11/28/2016 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 286: Black Friday, Just Another Day on eBay #6746Glad to hear the new hire is working out well. We’re still having our lister schedule all her listings and I run through it real quick and take notes on what I changed, I put the item up, and go over the notes the next day. She’s doing pretty good on pricing and I hope to set her free to list without the training wheels soon.
I think if you tell the people you’ll pay them for their stuff, even weird stuff, they will come. I’m still writing a business plan, so we’ll have to fine tune the numbers to make sure this all even makes sense. However, I do think if I can pay enough to make people happy and still make a profit, it’ll be a success.
I’ve never understood all the emotions around politics. Why would something that is so important to all of us be taboo to talk about? I also think it’s strange how passionate some people are about something they know next to nothing about. If you took the average die hard democrat/republican and asked them to actually explain their parties’ platform, you wouldn’t hear much more than badly regurgitated talking points. It’s like listening to Tim Allen butchering his neighbor’s pearls of wisdom.
Beyond what they’re all being told to believe, what do they really know about economic policy? What do they really know about foreign policy? They pick a team, and blindly believe anything their arm of the two headed one party system throws at them. So strange that an entire nation founded on freedom would cling to propaganda as gospel, and yell at the other side for believing in their brand of propaganda.
I wasn’t a fan of any of the candidates this year, but I’m glad Trump won because it upended an apple cart full of bad apples. Clinton destroyed the democratic party with her hubris and scandals, and Trump destroyed the republican party doing whatever the hell that was. Both parties needed wrecking, and I hope we get at least one viable 3rd party out of the deal in time for 2020.

Thanks! We won’t be selling anything out of the store, it will strictly be for buying only. Neither one of us want to deal with hassle of running a retail brick and mortar.
Don’t worry about teaching her everything. We’ve trained our people to list, photo, and ship, and it’s been a great experience. Even if selling on eBay seems appealing, most people don’t have the space or time to invest in making it happen.
We’ve been having $4k weeks lately, with more things selling on bonanza and Amazon. We’ll need the money, because we’re in the process of developing a brick and mortar store to source more inventory.
Happy Turkey Day!
Unfortunately, they’re telling me they didn’t charge me enough.
We just got a message from eBay saying they “incorrectly calculated” our selling fees last month in both stores. Hoping we don’t owe too much more! Anybody else get this message?
