Totally thought today was April 1, so I’m looking around at where we would downgrade our store subscription. Anyone know if there is a special place to do it? or is it just here–

Do you we have to do it on the 1st?

what we’ve heard is that ebay is waiving the “early termination” fee if you change subscriptions from April 1-30. So we figured we’d do it then.

Early termination fee waive started a few weeks back. I confirmed with anchor support then and downgraded to Premium. How it worked for me is that the system told me I had to pay the full month of Anchor and starting April 1 I would be under Premium. I am not sure if you downgrade starting in April if you would still have to pay that month in full and your new subscription would start essentially on May 1.

My subscription expired on April 1st, so I downgraded to a basic store since I have a little over 1000 listings and 80% of items are in the collectibles category. This morning it is showing I have 0/1000 listing left. It doesn’t look like they are giving us the collectibles listing for free now. I’m going to give it a few days and see what happens, otherwise I will have to go back to premium.

I clicked on subscribe to the new Premium (10k listings) and it says I will pay for April at Anchor price $299, and then on May 1st when my new subscription would start anyway, I’ll be on the cheaper $59 Premium. Fine by me!!

@ryanne when you did it, did it say you weren’t being charged a termination fee? Or are we to assume that is the case based on multiple reports? About to pull the downgrade also….

it didn’t say anything about a termination fee, so i’m assuming i won’t be charged one. i remember when i canceled my 2nd smaller store a couple years ago, they made it very clear i would be charged a termination fee for the other subscription. so i’m hoping this means there will be none.

I did mine just now and received a confirmation email that still says they are charging an early-termination fee (see below). So I’d suggest everyone really look at next month’s invoice to make sure you haven’t been charged and if so, call. My subscriptions renewed in Feb so I think my early-termination fee would be about $200 for a premium store, so it can be significant!
From eBay’s confirmation email.
What you should know:
You can change your Store features or subscriptions when you manage your Store.
If you cancel or downgrade a yearly subscription before the last month of your subscription, you will be charged an early termination fee equal to one-third of the remaining value of your yearly subscription.

So, I took a look at my month end count in March, and I have more than 250 items that aren’t part of the 10,000 free listings. I think these would be jewelry and art. I also have some tools and houseware that might not be part of the free listings.. I can go through my inventory and change them to an applicable collectables category. I’m not sure whether I will find the time before the end of the month or not.

My premium subscription renewed in March. I just chatted with eBay to see if I’d be charged the early term fee for downgrading to basic. She said that I “shouldn’t” be charged, and stayed on the chat while I downgraded to see if I’d be charged (which she said she would request to be waived if so).
I downgraded and there was no early term fee. The invoice said my new subscription would start May 1, and the rep confirmed all. She did ask how I heard about this promotion, I just told her I read it on some forum. Not sure why the fee wasn’t charged, maybe since I just renewed? Either way, happy to save approx $40+/month! Thanks for the intel!
