Hello all, I’ve been truly curious that last few years where people get the leads on the hot / rare Q4 toys every year? It seems like there has to be some toy industry type websites / forums where the rare toys that will be hard to find start getting discussed.
Last few years, I’ve been stuck finding out the BOLOs through reseller channels, and then it’s almost too late to really get in on the action as everyone is already clearing the shelves by that point.
Although I did manage to get 6 copies of Monopoly for Millennials last year, I want to do better this holiday season!

Good question. This forum has never been the hot spot for talking about retail arbitrage.
–Do people know what the hot toys will be far in advance? Or do sellers just see what becomes hot and then go grab them?
–What’s the math on Monopoly for Millennials? How much did you buy them for and what did they sell for?-

Yea, I could only find the few last year, but they were ~$19 at Walmart and I sold them for ~$70 on Amazon each within 24 hours. But that was all there was in my local area, none of the Walmart’s had them again until after Christmas…

I wonder if anyone can know what items will be hot for xmas until it gets closer to the buying season. So much of it seems like arbitrary whims that come in quick fads fueled by twitter.
I also wonder if stores like Walmart will get better at managing their online game so buyers can buy the game for $25 on walmart.com, instead of letting people flip items on Amazon.
Let us know if you find where we can all go buy the gold!

I’ve hit gold a few times with just promotional items that come out around Christmas. If you see anything at your local stores that is a special pack or has a nice gift add-on, look it up and see if it selling on eBay, or buy one and test out the market yourself. And if you find gold, be quiet about it until the gold rush is over!
One of the best items that was a “gold rush” for me was a few years ago. Kraft is a huge Peanut Butter brand in Canada, and for the holidays they had a special pack that had a Gund Plush Bear (their logo/mascot is a pair of bears on the package). I would buy up every one I could find (they were $10-$14 each) and I was selling them almost instantly for $50. I was loading up carts, and shipping out a few a day for the few weeks I could find them. I had family/friends all over the place text me when they found them on shelves and I would buy out the entire store. Eventually inventory ran out…they are still going for good prices out of the package:

Yeah I watched a video on youtube of an amazon seller that went to like 20 walmarts and filled his SUV up with those monopoly games. They were selling as fast as he could buy them.

A few years back I sold a bunch of star wars electronic lightsabers during christmas. I was buying them for $10-15 and selling for $30.
I suppose this was the surge in popularity from The force awakens.
I just happened across it at a drug store where they had a display of them on sale. There was no online “secret list” that alerted me to their popularity.Another year I picked a toy that I thought would get hot. I bought one and then put a few more on layaway. It never materialized though.
I hope this year I can get in on one or two hot items. I should have the capital to do it.
