Sometimes when I find something out in the wild for the first time, I say to myself “OK – finally found one of those!” and it feels like some sort of milestone. This could be something I’ve been actively looking for and/or hoping to find, or maybe just something that I’ve heard other scavengers be really into, or maybe it’s special for some other reason. Here’s a first cut at my list. What’s yours?
Found already
– KLM airlines Delft miniature houses (found some for the first time this past weekend and that’s what inspired this post – wasn’t something I was actively looking for, but felt like a milestone)
– vintage red wing work boots
– bench made shoes (the kind where the labelling inside is handwritten)
– Barbour waxed coat
– Aquascutum trench coat (found a women’s one that I kept and don’t wear, so maybe should list it)
– le creuset
– arabia finland ceramic dinnerware
– vintage gucci
– vintage patagonia deep pile fleece
– st john knit clothing
– MCM fiberglass lamp shade
– vintage marushka art
– vintage pendleton board shirt
– royal haeger ceramics
– vintage marimekko airline meal plates
– limoges porcelain
– corning serengeti sunglasses
– quimper pottery (but none yet of the high-value ones)
– harris tweed coat
– baccarat crystal (just a low value owl)
– tiffany
– something made of loro piana fabric
– motorola walkie talkies
– villeroy & boch
– stetson hat
– vintage melmac dinnerware, lunch trays
– mackenzie childs
– australian oilskin coat
– vintage hand printed wallpaper
– vintage woolrich red/black plaid wool hunting jacket/pants
– filson vest
– sabatier knife (hasn’t sold yet, though!)
– mens patent leather opera slippers
– vintage blow moldHaven’t found yet
– shell cordovan shoes
– canoe santa or one of his friends
– burberry trench coat (I’ve encountered some, but at really high prices)
– ray-ban sunglasses (same as above)
– dansk koben style enamelware (same as above)
– ralph lauren teddy bear clothing
– liberty wooden jigsaw puzzle
– easton press books
– carhartt jacket
– sterling silver flatware
– coogi sweater
– starburst clock
– something that sells for over $500
– something made before 1900There’s a lot more on the “haven’t found yet” list but that’s all I can remember right now.

I once found a single shell cordovan shoe. It was matched with another shoe that looked similar but wasn’t the same. The store was having a 50% off sale and was crazy so there was no way to ask someone to look in the back or if they had more shoes I could dig through.
So disappointing. -

My KLM Airlines Delft Mini House listing got taken down by eBay because it was still sealed and thus still had the alcohol in it. I guess I need to empty it so I can relist. I never heard of them before buying the one I found. They have a very interesting backstory.
