I would like to get a better cell phone where I could use the mobile app to create listings and take photos. From what I’ve read on the forum, the iPhone appears to be the favorite for most scavengers.
My question is which model should I get and are there recommended sellers? How much memory should I buy? I’m assuming the 32 GB model wouldn’t be enough.
I would think that the 7 or 7S would be good. My dad has the 8 plus which he recommends, but it will be pricey. Someone posted a 15% coupon for eBay last night, so I thought I should buy it today to get the discount.
I can get a new SE from my discount carrier for $160 if that will do the job well enough.

iPhones are so good now that you can be several generations behind and be fine. So much cheaper.

I’m kind of “camera shy” on purchasing something too much behind the times because I got burned once. But, I’m going to take a look in a few hours and make a decision. I’ll take a look at the 5’s (the prices look less than what I paid for my “dumb” smartphone a few years ago), and I’ll see what’s up with the 6’s and 7’s.
I purchased an iPad once – the iPad 1 when the iPad 2 was just coming out. I wanted to save the money because the 1’s were being discounted nicely at the time. Just a few years later, Apple decided that they weren’t going to update the software on the 1’s because they didn’t have certain hardware. I pushed it another year or two, but it got so slow that it was unusable.
I should also mention that I bought an iMac around the same time as the iPad, and the Mac is still going pretty strong. I have to take that into account as well.
Thanks for your input! Something for me to consider.

Understood. In the early days of the iphone, I would be hesitant about buying the young technology. But iPhones are a mature technology. These days, they just upgrade the phone with small flourishes (like Face ID).
Hey, we’re scavengers so don’t mind pushing the edge cases.

My work upgrades our iPhones a generation behind when the new ones come out (I have a 7 now) but from previous experience, there isn’t much difference between the 4 up to the 7 if you are using it for photos and web browsing or the eBay app.
I personally can’t tell the difference between the 6 and 7 other then it came with more storage space and doesn’t have a headphone jack. Between 5 and 6, it was just the size of the screen and thickness.

Thanks for all the input. Based on what Jay and Ryanne’s advice, I went and purchased the 5C using the 15% coupon. I considered the 5S based on extra storage and other capabilities, but I couldn’t justify the extra cash based on things that weren’t necessary for eBay listing.
My husband is taking a trip in May to visit his mom and brother in Las Vegas. Last year, he took an old camera of ours that requires an outdated application to download photos. The photos are still on the camera. This purchase of the iPhone will free up our newer camera where photos can be downloaded with a simple SD card.

i love our 5c’s! and they are so cheap compared to the new models. make sure you get a case, we both dropped ours and broke the screens thinking that that plastic housing was good enough (duh!). these are the cases i love, Pure Gear clear case, https://goo.gl/4ns16U
