Way down everyone’s list but I always send a little ” your item shipped” note – always use the phone – ordinary copy and paste – today , the contact buyer button is now set up to — contact myself!!! Up comes an error message that says a seller cannot ask themselves a question.
Just updated the app, must be bug.
Inconsequential but a shoulder shrug required!

And, in the “FWIW” category – the iPad, which was not updated, still emails the buyer.

Curious as to why send the buyer an extra message that something was shipped?
eBay does that when we print a mail and when it gets into the Post Office system, and yet at least one more asking buying for feedback.

That’s an easy question to answer!
Have always taken the “friendly PERSONALIZED service” approach – – would rather have a message come from me than from me with a little less automatic feel than just relying on the automated do not reply to this mailbox corporate .Oddly, about 30% of the time the buyer replies with a thanks – and 1 in 10 respond with effusive thanks and say they never hear from anyone. ( your seller is a person, not a corporation )
Admittedly, might be a holdover from the olden days of eBay auctions, but it takes me seconds and has some benefit to buyers.
Until now, when It might take a few minutes. ” wash wah wah ”

I’m still having this issue. Like you I still like to thank buyers for their purchase and that I will get mailed. It’s something I’ve done since 1997 when I started on eBay.
I do get a lot of thank you’d back.
I also feel if there is an issue with an order it shows I’m approachable and open to communication. I think in over 20,000 sales I’ve only had one person just “yelling” at me for a sales problem.
Hope they fix this glitch soon. Obviously the work around is login to my laptop.

Glad to see it isn’t just me! I also started back in ’97!
So. The app has gone all wonky – today couldn’t add a picture to a listing because , apparently, that triggers an error message telling me I can’t change return policies. Which – wasn’t trying to do. And, couldn’t anyway since that field is locked.
Feel like getting out my old Sony mavica floppy disc camera and firing up the windows 95 computer. Dialup….

Well, surprise surprise – this was fixed! App updated, and this was the key fix.
On the message it also said notify them of app issues at http://www.ebay.com/iOS – which is going to get bookmarked!
Funny how many changes and updates affect our “SOPs” – or business habits if you will. Pleased this annoyance has passed.
Next up, accessing existing business policies from the app instead of overriding to default. A 4 pound book is not going to ship first class mail…

It irritates me to no end that listing on the app leaves off multiple critical features of creating a listing. That’s why all of my listings are completed on the computer. Only the photos are done in the app.
