I know some people won’t agree but for me it was just a no brainer, after having to refund a customer who opened a case because of a USPS delay I made the decision to shut down once again. We don’t depend on this income for our living and our USPS shipping service is just too undependable right now. eBay doesn’t seem to be backing up it’s sellers either, we are expected to take the loss. I agree the shipping was extremely delayed (16 days on a priority mail package) but the customer did eventually get the item for FREE because I was forced to refund them days earlier. We are planning on opening back up at he beginning of February when I hope all this mess with USPS will be over.

Merry Christmas Tony! We are going to be putting the stores on Time Away as of tomorrow, although that’s due to a predicted snowstorm (12″ or so) coming Wed—more a concern about the power going out than anything else (I’ve never been able to convince the better half that we should have a portable generator). We’ve been pretty lucky with the PO (although I think some of that has been due to being pro-active on our part). Just wanted to say: Better half had a package get hung up going to Hawaii from PA, and refunded….package was delivered hours after the refund wen through. She contacted the buyer, who agreed that better half should relist the item and she “bought it” again. So, in the end, we were made whole.

@mycottage I am glad you got your money back, I wasn’t so lucky, it was a pushy and difficult buyer and I am frankly glad it’s over but I have no desire to go through that again. I hope you and yours have a great Christmas !

Today I had to go to the post office the next town over as I missed the time for our local one. The queue was all around the building when I got there half an hour before closing. I made it to the counter at one minute past closing time, and the queue was as long when I left as it was when I started. Fortunately the staff showed no intention of closing on time, or I think they’d have had a riot! I felt so bad for them, but sheesh!
I think I’m going to put my store on vacation too. Good idea, MP. Thanks for the tip. I’ve had a few complaints and I think it’s only going to get worse.

I was forced to refund a buyer in Alaska for priority mail that took 3-1/2 weeks.

My one buyer that is making a stink just opened a dispute with their credit card. I know eBay understands the USPS issues, but I don’t know about her credit card company. They want me to close it by the 20th. I certainly hope it arrives by then; otherwise, I’m out $89 plus shipping. Fortunately, I guess, this is an item on commission, so I will just not pay if I lose. I will be out the shipping cost.

@amatino wow that is incredible, our lines are no where near that long but once the item leaves my post office it’s in no mans land for weeks so yeah I think for now just putting things on pause makes a lot of sense. I think things will get better after toward the end of January but that is just a guess.
@wbird I know the feeling, it just sucks and there doesn’t seem to be a remedy. I guess for those that can afford the occasional loss it’s ok to just keep pushing forward and hoping for the best but right now we don’t need the money so yeah putting the brakes on for now.
@sharyn hey $89 ain’t no joke and I do hope it works out, everything seems to still be moving but at a snails pace and ebay hasn’t yet put any protections in place for us that I have been made aware of. Fingers crossed yours gets there before the deadline, I’ll say a little prayer for you, couldn’t hurt.Merry Christmas Yall
