So lots of folks have been listing from death piles the last few months. Let’s see what cool stuff you’ve uncovered that you didn’t even realize you had!
Last night I was listing a very old tote of death pile shoes. At the very bottom, I found a pair of Allen Edmonds Shell Cordovan loafers. Score!

I’ve made it through half of my unlisted bins. Each bin has had at least two gems in it, which motivates me to keep working through my back stock so I can find more. The best find: Isaia Napoli Aquaspider Wool Suit. It sold in about a month for $199.99. Also found a used Johnny Was blouse that sold for $59.99, vintage overalls sold for $99.99, Adriana Papel gown sold for $79.99, Eskandar sweater $99.99. There are a few others that I just listed and am waiting for a sale including a Johnny Was dress I’ve listed for $82 and a Skhoop skirt I’ve listed for $89.99. And all this time, the stuff was buried in bins of unlisted inventory.
I also found a stack of narrow pads of paper – the kind you keep as grocery lists. Not worth anything obviously but we had just run out so at least it was a useful find. -

I was surprised that a bog of jewelry I received on commission had some gold rings in it. Three to be exact. I knew that many were sterling or gold over sterling, but I didn’t know that some were solid gold.
In a different sort of surprise, my husband went through his closet last week and found an unopened battery pack for a drill he no longer owns. It sold overnight.

Not technically from my death pile but from a basement shelf: five Allen+Roth closet brackets and an expandable closet pole. Leftovers from a remodel project completed 7 years ago. Sold all within a week of listing for $210 total.

My whole house feels like a death pile. Just going room by room, I’ve found things. Mostly smalls but they are selling. I have 120 items in my store on average and yesterday I sold 8 items — some stuff from around my house. Glasses, a bowl, a purse, DVD, briefcase, toy, flatware, puzzle. It totaled just $143 – but I now have less junk and more $ so I’m happy about this. I have the time and it’s a nice feeling getting rid of excess. Plenty more to scrounge out and I won’t miss it.

I found a box of letters my uncle gave me over 25 years ago. I’d forgotten all about them.
World war 2 sweetheart letters…over 1000 of them. Not in the best condition. I did a 7 day auction and they are over $300 with 2 1/2 days to go! Needless to say I’m beyond excited!!

Not really a “death pile” item per se, but I did have a lot of 20 sweaters I used to wear when I worked a full-time job. Was wanting to put in the donation bin, but on a fluke, just decided to list and at least get half (before fees and all is said and done) of what I paid for them. It worked! I sold most sweaters and while I probably just profited $5. from each sale. It was a win for me, because I was glad to rid myself of them and came out with about $100. I’ll take it!
