This past weekend was Ryanne’s bday! We spent a couple nights in Richmond, VA which is only a couple hours from us, but a city we’ve never explored. I

I’ve driven through or close by, Richmond on my way to Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head years ago. Never stopped in, though. HBD to Ryanne, and I’m glad you had a good time!
Still having slow, low value sales, and not many of them.

It’s great to se your numbers, I hope you continue posting. Those are really impressive numbers across the board and I’m looking forward to seeing how your sales figures change and grow especially as we enter the busy season in a few months

Thanks! I will continue to post them. I had an unusually higher than normal week due to a high value Hot Wheel, but I’m trying my best to make those numbers the weekly average.

Welcome! What kind of inventory are you listing and what is your storage like?
14,000 items is often people who sell postcards and smaller items.

Mostly media particularly records. For context, these are my top 5 categories I’ve been selling in for the year so far:
Vinyl Records
Video Games
DVDs & Blu-Ray
Action Figures
VHS Tapes
I have now been venturing into smaller items, such as postcard, as I have in effect ran out of room in 2-car garage (exclusively used for Ebay).

Listing 2023 weekly Avg 24House projects and father’s day kept me from meeting my listing goal but I’m still above my 77 average goal for the summer. It’s pretty funny that I’m considering 59 new quality listings a sub par performance. I may not hit it again this week as I have ALOT of ebay housekeeping to do with inventory management. A clean ship is an efficient ship!
I also scheduled a summer vacay in mid-august instead of our usual September trip. An opportunity arose to get one of the nicer condos we have stayed at for a VERY good price so I jumped on it.

Number of items listed this week: 37Happy for you R&J. I know that would have been a splurge getaway in the old days unless you were cat sitting or out scavenging in the area. Glad you had a fun birthday celebration. Thanks for all you do on the Forum.
Thankfully, sales were better this week. I did the old sell similar trick on pre-2023 listings and got to make over 20 offers in the next day or two. We have a lot of big kid related expenses so I’m hoping sales continue to be like this for the next few weeks.
I made it this week to over 700 listings for the first time! I’m feeling really good about digging into the piles these days. I created listings for a whole box of really random stuff yesterday and just need to take pictures and clean them up today. I think I mentioned elsewhere that I have a huge garage wall full of shelves I’m working on. One side is all listed now and the other side is turning into listed items vs. unlisted. So I can physically see my progress. Also once things are listed they can be better organized and packed, so take up less space to some degree. I have a few more boxes on the floor that don’t fit so I hope to clear those out in the next couple of weeks.
I didn’t go thrifting at all but did go to a lousy church sale and a few garage sales. One estate sale was ending and they gave me free shorter plastic bins that I can stack on the bankers boxes. I mostly actually bought storage items as I plan on reorganizing a bit soon.
Have a great week everyone!

Quoting for emphasis sake, for those of you where sales are slow. Don’t let those old listings die in eBay purgatory, folks, especially when it’s so easy to bring them back to life!
Congrats on 700 listings @ChristineR and keep making progress on those piles. I have been doing the same thing over the last month or two and it’s been really exciting to reclaim space for new inventory.

Thanks. It’s nice to see your store grow outside of the retail arbitrage.

Too quiet in the forums this week. I hope everyone is doing well. I had a busy week of sales in terms of size and weight — lots of flat rate boxes and heavy packages — mostly thanks to a few repeat customers.
6/11/2023 to 6/17/2023
Items sold: 27 (22 via best offer, 5 via seller initiated offer, 18 via promoted listings)
Gross sales: $1503.52 (down 28% from one year ago)
Net sales: $977.35 (down 34% from one year ago)
Average sales price: $55.69 (up 6% from one year ago)
Highest price sold (net): $372.29— Mixed lot of graded and encased cards plus mixed lot of encapsulated and uncirculated cards
Both to the same buyer, who was very friendly and sent me pictures after he received the 15+ pound package from me plus a little package with some extras. I hope to get him buying from me again. If you’re not familiar with modern trading cards, these listings should give you a good idea what to look for if you ever find cards out in the wild. Keep in mind: these are cards that (in my expert opinion) are not worth selling individually!
I also sold a couple flat rate boxes of poetry books to the same buyer, about $40 profit on each, and a different buyer asked me if I could make another box. So that’s my project for this weekend.
Lowest price sold (net): $7.98 — Jalen Wilson PSA certified autograph 8×10 photo
Jalen Wilson was a star basketball player at Kansas who graduated this year and was picked in the second round of the NBA draft by the Brooklyn Nets last night. I must have bought around 100 autographed photos of him that cost me about $2-$3 each, and I’m probably in the profit already. It will be fun to see how long my pipeline of autographed photos continues. If he is a surprise rookie star (there are a few in every sport every year), I will see some good sales of these photos in the fall.

Average Price Sold: $61.81

Money Spent on New Inventory: $0.00Average Days Listed: 313
Longest Listed: 1270
New items listed: 5
New Listings Value $59.95Decent week of sales for the time of year. Just surpassed my sales for the year so far from last year. Good to see having started the year out way behind. Best sale was another child’s Singer sewing machine for $179.95 that was made in the 1950’s. Another nice sale was an original Currier & Ives hand colored print from the 1800’s that sold for $140.
Not a lot of listing going on the last two weeks. So much else keeping me busy including family from out of state. Today was the first day this week I’ve had time to seriously sit down and look at things.

Good to see your inventory can keep selling while you’re busy with family.
We used to buy/sell those old singer machines but have a difficult time finding them cheap these days. Plus, we had issues with returns since either we didnt test them well enough and/or buyers didnt know how to use them.

I’ve been fortunate to find multiple lately at very good price points. I started picking them up after you and Ryanne mentioned selling some of the bentwood case singers on your podcast years ago. I have two for sale still. I have been a little concerned about them having issues, especially with shipping. They adult one’s are so heavy I’m afraid of them being damaged from dropping.

I took two incomplete Singers to a thrift store last week. I paid 20 GBP for one and 12 GBP for the other last year because I ain’t got no sense. What is worth picking up are the attachments. Most have a Simanco number on them, which makes them easier to identify. The antique machines in shops never seem to have any in their storage drawers.

Interesting change concerning a new law that affects online resellers: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/06/27/the-inform-act-takes-effect-targeting-organized-retail-theft.html?__source=androidappshare

Seems the underlying assumption to that legislation is that the majority of retail theft from brick-and-mortar stores gets sold via the internet. This can be dealt with by collecting verified ID and tax info on anyone who sells more than 1 item every two days on the internet (200 items a year).
This is the Integrity, Notification and Fairness in Online Retail Marketplaces Act (INFORM).
