I wanted to make sure I didn’t forget to post this on time, so I’m getting it out on a Tuesday. This might be the best day for me since I go into the office for my career job on Wednesdays. After that point, all the bits in my mind are either written over or zero’d out, and I don’t always remember on Thursday.
Other than an item that arrived damaged, my week was fine, but many of the items were lower value. I am selling a number of larger items I had thought to put in my auction but now have sold. That’s a good thing! Now, if I can just make some progress on listing items for that auction. A proposal I’ve been helping out with at work is due Friday, so I should be less busy next week.

2025 projected total sales $94,042.00Twas a snowy week. I worked from home 2 days and didn’t do a whole bunch of ebay work. Then it snowed again over the weekend. The bad weather made it difficult to get stuff moved out to the inventory shed, take stuff to Goodwill, or even deal with trash. We haven’t had trash service since the 2nd and it is a mess! Needless to say my workspace in the garage is messy again. My kids love the snow. I loved the snow as a kid and wished for a blizzard every year. As an adult – not so much! I did clean up some more space in my listing area by listing a bunch of beer cans and a random bin of junk. I’ve already sold one of the beer cans to get into the profit on the whole lot. As part of my new “don’t list cheap long tail junk” kick, I didn’t even list about half the cans. If a can sold for less than $20, already had 20-50 active listings and 0-5 solds I was better off just donating it to goodwill or throwing it away. These aren’t little cans – they are 5 liter party cans.
Hopefully we get a break in the weather this coming weekend and I can get my photo area cleaned up. I’m backed up with listed inventory so I can’t really photograph stuff right now. I have 110 drafts awaiting photos and that number will grow this week. Once I’m all cleaned up and efficient again I can blow through the backlog fairly quickly.

I got a pretty good amount of things listed this past week. I’m trying to do at least 5 per week so getting 12 done was great. I’m selling almost as much as I’m listing lately which is also good but it also shows I need to list more if I want to get my store numbers up.

I’ve been hovering around 400 listings for about a month now, and last week was basically a wash with 21 sold and 19 listed. Hoping to list more than I sell this week, and off to a good start so far with 16 new listings in the last three days. I do have a tendency to slow down on listings towards the end of the week, which is not necessarily good or bad, simply how I choose to spend my time. It crossed my mind last week that if I can bank 10-15 “easy” items to save for quick listings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, maybe I can finally get over the hump of 500 listings in my eBay inventory by February! But I’m fine if I never get there, too. I hope everything sells. Sell it all.
1/5/2024 to 1/11/2024
Total listings: 402
New listings this week: 19
Items sold: 21 — 12 via best offer, 5 via seller initiated offer, 8 via advertising

Net sales: $588.21 (down 27% from one year ago)

High sale of the week: $67.46 net, about $40 after COGS Lauri Markkanen locker room nameplate from the 2018 NBA All-Star Skills challenge
Going all the way to Lauri’s home country of Finland! Love eBay for connecting items like this with a buyer who wants them.

Number of items listed this week: 20Ebay sales are tapering off but last week was ok. I had a few buyer issues. One I’m sure substitued an item for a brand new one. One buyer from October said her package never arrived (tracking sales delivered to door). My high sale buyer made me do a fabric burn test before finally buying. Lots more messages than I’m used to.
I have a new opportunity to do consignment with an ambitious young girl who is opening a new part new-part vintage hybrid store in April. I hope it works out. I’d like to unload some stuff that way, especially larger art work.
One more week and I’m back to kid free, so have been enjoying the family time but look forward to being on a more regular schedule and digging in again on my organzing. I’m seeing a lot of Facebook group postings about people going back to focusing on Ebay and leaving the other platforms. I’m hoping Ebay rolls out the new feature to start a listing from a photo soon. I need to list faster.
Truth be told, I bought more than I listed I think this week so far. Need to right the ship.
