What up everyone? I got a 8mm 1960s projector. I usually sell projectors for between 20 and 30 bucks but I cannot find any of this model for sale. There are a lot of Argus Showmaster 500s though. The one I have is mint and everything works. Anyone know the value? I was thinking about asking $40. here is the link: https://imgur.com/a/yxXhL

Sounds like you know the answer.
1. Do a search for sold listings:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_nkw=Argus+Showmaster+500&_sop=162. Compare your item to otehrs that have sold
3. price is based on this knowledge

Jay, the item in question here is a showmaster 1000, not 500 – that’s why she’s asking.

Yes. I cannot find even one model 1000 that sold. Only 500s and 750s.

Ah, my bad. I apologize for misunderstanding. You’re correct that I dont see the Argus Showmaster 1000 on eBay.
But if you just search for Argus in general, there are lots of different models:
https://www.ebay.com/b/Argus-Vintage-Movie-Projectors/11722/bn_866603?LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_sop=16
$80 is highest I see.Could you have the missing technical masterpiece that’s worth $10k?
Maybe, but doubtful.
I think your $40 value is a good guess.Maybe someone else here knows more.

I’d pick a price and then put it on a 10 day auction, just in case.

Yep, always an option. We got burned recently listing an item for too cheap. But most times, your gut reaction (educated guess) will be the correct one.

Two show as sold on Worthpoint One for $29.95 and one for $49.95. Both were the 1000 model and seem to match your photo. So avg. of the two is $39.95. Good luck.

Hey Mike, I wonder how our results differ? I also got two on WP, but mine are
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-argus-showmaster-1000-8mm-1846398857 $24.95 and
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-argus-showmaster-movie-242997270 $10.99
Gotta love search engines! 😀

Good morning Amatino: No that was human error. I ran back through and see that it was an M-500 at the $49 price point. My error. I used a more generic term, Argus Projector without the model no included and a larger quantity popped up. I just quickly sorted from high to low and scanned down quickly and made an error. They looked almost the same and I was fast scanning by image and they looked so similar.
Sorry about that. Also did a Google image search and got the same ball park as you did.Learned lessons on camera and projectors years ago. They don’t go for much. The only time I buy a camera now, is if it has a special brand or type of lens. I buy the whole rig, detach the lens or lens and case and dump the camera body. Most camera bodies unless very high end like Hasselblad on Canon, etc. don’t bring more than $5 bucks or so. One has to also be careful of the “mount” on the lens. A Carl Zeis lens, high zoom factor and with a universal mount will go for much larger amounts.
Sorry again on the over site on the higher priced on the M-1000
