Has anybody else noticed a new option under subscriptions on eBay? I just noticed you can subscribe to a Terapeak Research for $12 a month with a year plan and $19 without. Is this new or have I been living under a rock? Is anybody subscribed to it and have any opinions on it?

I know that eBay bought Terapeak last year, but I wasn’t aware of this option. They haven’t advertised it at all. I think it is new.

I thought Terapeak was free now?

I have a premium store subscription, and it is free for me.

I have it for free with my premium store but I cannot figure out how to use it.

I have a basic store and it is also free with my basic store yearly subscription. When I went to sign up at the link supplied by amora309 above I got the following screen:
“Grant Application Access: Register With Terapeak
Ready to use Register With Terapeak? Great! To share info about your eBay account and let Register With Terapeak act on your behalf, we need your consent first. Don’t worry: We won’t give the application your eBay password. And if you ever change your mind about consenting to this application, no problem. Just go to My eBay to take care of it.Please be sure to read the Register With Terapeak terms of service and Privacy Policy, because these are the terms and policy that will apply when you use this application. We don’t manage policies set by other companies.
When you agree, you’re letting us share your eBay account data with Register With Terapeak, and you’re letting Register With Terapeak act on your behalf on eBay, as described in their terms of service.”
Since I don’t have time to read the Register With Terapek terms of service and Privacy Policy right now I declined to sign up at this time. Has anyone read this? If so, is there anything in there we should all be aware of before we sign up?

I also have a basic store, went to sign up and got the same message which gave me pause, and I tried to go down the rabbit hole on just what I was signing up for. It was a week or two ago and my memory is fuzzy on it but I do recall it was difficult to get a clear answer to that, even after reading all the links. All I could make out was that it seems that Terapeak plans to add some kind of “helpful” information or “assistance” to the listing process.
It was not clear what exactly they would be doing to “act on my behalf” on my account so I did not register. I’ve decided to let others be the guinea pigs on that.

It just occurred to me that maybe they are planning to do Automated Pricing like on Amazon, where Terapeak drops your prices automatically to market.

Eek, that sounds like I’d be putting too much power over my listings in Terapeak’s hands. Thanks for your comments Temudgin.

I’ve had a Terapeak paid subscription for years, when it went to free, I signed up. I didn’t read all the details of the terms (I know, my bad), but I think it’s pretty much boilerplate stuff. Terapeak uses eBay’s API to obtain the information you want, I don’t think Terapeak is actually going to be lowering prices automatically for you.
The free Terapeak is OK, but it is a stripped down version of the old Terapeak, which was far more robust. (That’s in part, according to eBay, because they will be folding in some of Terapeak’s data into Seller Hub)
Terapeak can be used for price and identification research, but would be more useful for that if it had an app.
