I know it’s a long shot but I would love it if our kind benefactors would consider adding a place in the forum where individuals could blog or keep track of their personal trash elf journeys/ Trash Elf Journals
I originally intended to do so on my own site, but I haven’t started anything and doubt I will.
Now ok, I know. If I can’t do that, why would I do it here. Well it’s more convenient and here people will “get me”
For example I am going thru my mother’s (a hoarder and antique collectibles dealer) letters between my deceased grandmother who was an antique dealer and her youngest sister, my Aunt Anna May. They write so much like we post. (My mother found and kept the letters after my grandmother passed, then my mother passed a year ago). My Aunt travelled and did shows everywhere in the 70s thru 90s. She bought a child’s Carmel and blood red slag set and resold it for a lot more than she paid. The other dealer she bought it from found out along the way and got mad at her. Anna May discusses the drama with her dry wit and efforts at diplomacy, but it was an ugly scene at Rennigers apparently.
Fast forward and my major projects include trying to find the best way to authenticate a blanket given by Benjamin Franklin to a niece by marriage (DNA? I know it’s gonna be difficult), and considering how much time to spend on research on a large collection of music and concert bill of the Pennsylvania Railroad 1925 Glee Club)
It would be nice to journal this stuff somewhere it might be appreciated or atleast commiserated with. It really doesn’t belong anywhere else.
Finally (whiney voice) other sites do it. It can be set up so that only us long timers could have them (I think) initially.
So pretty please?

Could you link to one of these sites that offer journals so we can better understand what it would look like?

Here is an example of the concept: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66
And an article about the purpose for theirs:

Here is a school discussing theirs along with a privacy option. I don’t think one is needed, but it’s a thought as an option:

Doing this on the treadmill so sorry for any weird typos I don’t have my reading glasses.

These sites use a different kind of forum software.
For now, we have the category “Random thoughts” that’s a catch all for anything you want to discuss: http://www.scavengerlife.com/forums/forum/random-thoughtsWe could eventually start an entire category called “scavenger stories” if it got popular.
I’m still a little unclear what this journal would be.
You could always start a blog if you’re trying to document your personal adventures. -

I don’t have time at the moment to look at the sites Eve mentioned, but I’m thinking of something in between. Rather than this site hosting our blogs, YouTube videos etc, can’t we provide links to our blogs, etc, through our Profile page here? (and our ebay stores, if we are so inclined). And maybe provide permission for the bloggers to post to the Random Board, not the blog post itself, but a link to any new blog posts as they are posted.
Does that make sense?
And Eve, I’d love to hear the Renninger’s story. Was that the Kutztown Renninger’s?

Anyone can post in Random Thoughts:
As long as it’s somehow Scavenger related. We’re willing to to anything. This forum software doesn’t have any function that allows personal blogs.
