I got a call from eBay today regarding Shippo, and they are ending their relationship at the end of July. Looks like Shippo wasn’t quite working out for eBay.
Good news is that they are going all in with ShipRush, which they say is even better. I asked them some questions, and sounds like they can do what we need:
1) Print labels individually and still get the SCAN sheet
2) Etsy integration
3) Plus, ShipRush will do Media Mail and FedEx (something Shippo didn’t do)So a heads up to all. Gonna start our account with ShipRush soon…

Thanks for the heads up. With everything that is going on, going wrong, changing, morphing all around us, might as well change how we ship too. Just go with the flow.
Who knows, maybe after all is said and done we may wind make up with multiple booths at antique malls..HaHa. LOL..[not really funny.. Uggh.] We will get through it all.

Speaking of changes, I havent heard anything about eBay’s new payment system. I could have sworn I read they were going to start testing it this summer.

Correct. Several years for full implementation.
But according to eBay:
https://www.ebayinc.com/stories/news/ebay-to-intermediate-payments-on-its-marketplace-platform/“eBay will begin payments intermediation on the Marketplace platform on a small scale in North America starting in the second half of 2018, expanding in 2019 under the terms of the Operating Agreement with PayPal. In 2021, eBay expects to have transitioned a majority of its Marketplace customers to its new payments experience.”
So the second half of 2018 was 26 days ago. This is why I wonder if they are reaching in to connect to all kinds of code.

Actually, the second half of 2018 starts on July 1… 🙂
Also, I would guess they would use a very small audience, and I would bet it is a corporate seller that can put people on watching the transactions and reacting if things go awry…

You’re correct! Whoops.
But I do wonder if they are having to change code to their core, even though they’ll start with small alpha testers. I could be wrong. But at some point, that code will have to be inserted into their development environment.

No worries on the quarter-end. I’m an accountant. We have quarter end in our blood…
Yep, I’m sure they will start working it in. I’ve done implementations before, so the thinking will be absolute control testing up front. I’m sure they are working in test environment now, running transactions through to see how they are working.

I did not use Shippo (it became the default on ebay.ca on July 1, 2018) but having the integrated shipping change essentially three times within just over a year is disappointing.
I feel that we the sellers being sold as a package to these shipping companies, and eBay is just taking the shipping company with the biggest kickbacks to their pocket instead of making a good user experience.
I know that Shippo had massive launch issues in Canada – lots of packages were rejected or not even accepted at the Post Office for several weeks. I stuck to PayPal for my shipping labels and haven’t had any issues – just that the discounts are individual instead of shared across the eBay community. However, when I compared my personal discount to Shippo’s pricing, it was better to use my personal discount.
I also haven’t heard anything about new payment options in several months, but hopefully they are vetting them better than Shippo.
