Browsing items for my dance classes, I checked the shipping information and was highly amused to read the below. I do so wish I could post this on my eBay store:
We have had a few customers attempt to threaten their way around the return polices lately, so we want to make this very clear.
We can only cover shipping costs to do a same item exchange on something we have determined to be defective. Other types of returns or exchanges will require you to cover the shipping costs involved.
We can not cover your shipping costs so you can try out items to see if you like them or not. If you return an item for a refund or an exchange for a different item, you will be responsible for the shipping costs involved. There are no exceptions to this. It does not matter why you want to return it. You can not simply nitpick “defects” in an effort to try and circumvent this. You can not complain, whine or threaten us into covering your shipping costs. If you do provide us with a “do this or else” type of ultimatum, you will be banned and lose the option to ever purchase from us again. We’re sorry to even have to put this up here, but the level of self-entitlement of some people has gotten way out of hand and quite frankly we are very tired of dealing with that type of attitude. If you have a problem paying the shipping costs generated by your actions, do not order from us. If you feel that attempting to bully or extort a company to get around posted policies is a viable tactic, we do not want your business. Please take that attitude to our competition. For the 99% of you who don’t act like spoiled children, we are sorry we even have to post this at all.

Sounds like the old days of eBay where sellers would threaten buyers who they knew were going to rip them off. Probably not best to start off the trasnaction like this 🙂

Like to see there response if you file a INAD with them…eBay will side with the buyer in any case under eBay’s general terms, no matter how many rules a seller may create.
I’ve seen similar statements – I’m not sure why eBay allows them as no seller can avoid returns or INADs by creating a crazy statement.

Was this an eBay seller? Or is it someone with their own website?

Every time I see something like this in a listing, I think two things: 1) This seller got started in the early 2000s and hasn’t updated their listing template since then; and 2) Don’t buy from this person.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It’s not an eBay seller, they sell weapons on a private website. Awesome, awe-inspiring weapons that are stunning works of art, in a range of categories from Medieval to Dance, from battle ready to unsharpened. I was browsing balanced scimitars and clicked through to read their shipping policies. They’re a well known vendor in the weapons category and their stuff is fabulous, but they’ve obviously been hit by the eBay mentality generation.

If they run their own website and sell unique items, then it does give them power. Being banned from their site would mean someone couldnt buy that item anywhere else.

Anyone whose dance classes involve the use of balanced scimitars must lead a pretty interesting life. 🙂
