Hi There Everyone- I sold this Big Ask Telescope by accepting the buyers first offer of 375.00 + shipping and handling- They didn’t pay. I sent an invoice later that day, no response. Today was day 2 , I sent a ebay reminder, still crickets. I opened the unpaid case and they paid right up.
I’m a rookie, is this unusual? Most of my sales go off smoothly.
I’m going to bubble wrap, painters tape it into a cocoon. Then box it in peanuts . then rebubble, rebox. I have signature required and insured for 375.00 fedex. I think I was very detailed in the description about the condition of the scope, “as is”- if you want to look at the listing and tell me all the flaws that would be greatly –https://imgur.com/a/ash4pUk

It’s not unusual for people to be slow to pay for expensive items on “make offer”. I’d just be glad they did pay. You handled it well.
I’ll let the shipping nerds give their advice on packing.
Do you know if the telescope works?

Looks like you did a good job of describing the item and its defects, and sounds like you have done a bang up job of packaging. Double boxing is the way to go. Are there pieces that could bang against each other? If nothing is loose, what you’ve done sounds correct.
The issue with the buyer is, unfortunately, quite common. Maybe it’s just someone who doesn’t check their email that often, wants to make sure that they have enough money in their account, whatever. Personally, I wait two days before reminding them, then a second reminder the following day, and, finally, I have my account settings set so that a unpaid item case opens automatically after four days.
My second reminder usually goes something like “Just another reminder to pay for this order. I have eBay’s unpaid item assistant set to automatically open a case after four days of nonpayment (which would be tomorrow). If there is any issue at all including needing more time or deciding to cancel the purchase, please message me right away.”.
Occasionally, I get a non-paying buyer, no explanation, no contact, etc. Maybe they decided they didn’t want it, couldn’t afford it, pocket purchased, or who knows, but it does happen.
Have you asked your buyer if they mind having to sign for the box? Maybe it is too late now, but you should at least inform them so they are prepared.

Sharyn Thanks for the feedback- I will send a message about the signature- not to late, I’m sending it tomorrow. I have a friend in the shipping biz who will help me with the boxing.
Jay the scope doesn’t work without a few more parts, if it was complete it would be thousands- I’m guessing the buyer will use it for parts or a new build.I’m happy to reclaim the space. And refill it.-

For some reason, I missed your detailed description of its condition. “For Parts” is always a good thing to put in the title if the item doesnt work. But you explained it well.
I like your closer on the listing: “You certainly know more about this item than I do. The universe brought you here for a reason. Give it a go.”

This is my buddy who owns my local mail shop.I love him. and its his fault I’m here- long story.
I walked into his store this morning with the giant space telescope gave him rough dimensions and weight and he was on it- When it was done, he sent me this video, the exact measurements and I emailed him the label and off it goes fedex…Best 20 bucks spent ever! (buyer paid 25 handling and the shipping which was about 65 bucks Seattle to New York)-
video posted with permission of the mail room….https://www.upmailroom.com/So closing the loop on this sale, keep your paws crossed for team sally that the buyer loves it.
I did send the signature message to the buyer….response, nope….crickets.
thanks for the advice
