I was sick with Covid all last week, so I have a lot of material for scavenge of the week discussion sitting at my post office right now. Next week’s thread should be full of good stuff! But I had one oversized package shipped to my home address last week, and it showed up on Saturday — perfect timing since I finally gotten some energy back, and it took most of that energy to drag my huge framers box inside.
In the box was my order from one of my favorite consignment sellers, and I had a really profitable week of scavenging through their auctions last week — a few thick piles of single cards far below their values, most of them graded or encased, and the reason for this thread, two framed and signed LeRoy Neiman serigraphs from the 70s. Bobick in the Ring and Olympic Village. Those auctions were in the wrong category on top of auctions being the worst possible way to sell items like this. Plus the shipping charge was (reasonably) high which scares off a lot of bidders. I got very lucky with the consignor’s combined shipping rate last week and only paid $50 shipping for my whole order! I imagine they lost money shipping that order, but other times they overcharge me by a bit, so I think it all evens out for both of us.
Before I saw these auctions, I was already familiar with Neiman’s work because his artwork was the basis for a few trading card sets in the 90s. I don’t typically sell fine art and I don’t want to get my hopes up, but my early research suggests that these pieces are not cheap.
Regardless of their eventual value, the two auctions basically went for thrift store prices and I couldn’t be happier to have them on my “what do I do with this” shelf. I am always looking for cool items like this but scavenging (especially online) can be a bit of a grind. This was a reminder of what you can find from the hunt.
What did you scavenge this week?

My sympathies with your Covid; I had it a couple of months back, after having spent more than three years without even catching a cold. Caught it scavenging, thought it was hay fever at the beginning.
I see that consignment seller not only put the Neiman pictures in the wrong category, but they also swapped the titles round.

We had Covid in the week before our vacation. 3 days of really bad body aches, fever etc. Ooh the fever dreams on day 2 really brought me back to some dark times in the ICU back during Delta. I had to hit up my inhaler a few times in the week following and had some brain fog but I’m pretty much fine now.
On to the scavenges!

Vintage Kalmar Designs Teak Wood 20 Slot CD Holder
Oh man this thing is sweet! You can feel the quality when you handle it. I actually missed this in Goodwill and my wife found it in a section I just casually glance over. She got a kick out of pressing the buttons so she brought it to me. Score points for Mrs. Retro! She’ll get a nice steak dinner once it sells.
I swear I’ve had one of these in the past as it felt so familiar. Maybe I have another squirrelled away in a death pile.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/335027862143 Had to pay up for this a bit at $10 and thought maybe I would get $30. The solds are quite high but a little stale. Starting at the highest price plus make offer as usual. The thrift stores are really dribbling out the Halloween this year, which is frustrating.
I have to have two this week. Had no idea how to price this. The comps were not nearly as well done. This lady was good at gourd art. Website no longer works. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235194331893 Paid $7.99
