I had a night or two this week where I squeezed in a little time for online scavenging, and as luck would have it, I won a number of certified autographed military items for $10 and under, like this signed bookmark. Not sure how much value is in this kind of stuff, I’m not even much of a history buff, but it will be fun to do the research and see what sells and what doesn’t.
What did you scavenge this week?

We did some scavenging on the Oregon coast this weekend, and our best finds were a vintage kitchen table for $5 and an old large Igloo cooler, also for $5. Plus some other bits and pieces and a large piece of art we need to research. It’s a bit early in the year for garage sales weather-wise so we were very happy with our finds.

You got a whole kitchen table for a fiver? Plus vintage often equals quality when it comes to furniture. Meanwhile my eBay desk, a boxy old man’s desk from the 80s (don’t worry I’m replacing it soon), cost me $20 at an estate sale…
I might need to move out to the west coast…

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234933135489 I was lucky to find this cool Kobenstyle pan with a wrap handle. Very desirable and I think will sell even with the chipping. Paid $7.99
I just noticed one of my close up photos is blurry. Does anyone know if Apple changed the focus settings during an update recently? I never used to have issues in the past.

I purchased at two auctions this week and got a lot of great stuff. Best item I ended up with was a 1930’s cast iron “Speed Racer” motorcycle.
I got it in a large lot of vintage cars for $70 and I hope to sell for $500+. I’ve cleaned it up since this picture was taken. My eyes are getting old and I didn’t see how bad it was until I reviewed the pictures. Amazing what a bright flash shows up.

I’m revising my scavenge of the week. I’ve spent this week going through a box of books I got at the same auction where I won the cast iron toys. I got 5 boxes of books for $2. The previous owner was an avid collector of all sorts of things and had a library full of reference books for his collectibles. Most of the lots were books on firearms and I got beat out on those, but this lot was full of all types of other collectible books from bottles to toys, leather goods, civil war relics, currency, knives, bridles, fishing gear and even more firearms books. I did a first pass and culled 2 boxes of books worth under $15. The remaining 3 boxes are gold with many going for $100 plus. Highest price I’ve listed so far is for $349 for a 1920’s catalog. Most books are in excellent, near mint condition. I’m giddy over my luck.
Funny thing, I bought the lot for a few of the collectible books I wanted to add to my research library. I really didn’t pay much attention to the others which turned out to be the really valuable books.

Wow, that’s an amazing score! Scavenge of the year contender, for sure. I’m not shocked that people were bidding up the firearms books, but really surprised that every one of them passed up these other collectible books. Especially with old catalogs in there. $2 for 5 boxes!!! Unreal. I can’t wait to see the stuff you sell…
