Hi
I’ve been selling for 7 months now and still don’t quite have the numbers down, I tried to get help from eBay twice and PayPal. I would like to get the gross sales for one month and exclude the shipping label costs (or get that figure and subtract it myself), then the other fees seperately. I see under performance I can get the totals for fees, but not without shipping labels. And I see under shipping labels I can get the individual numbers but not the total. And why do my PayPal numbers differ from eBay? The gross sales and number of items were different… I’m either a complete idiot or eBay is not making this very easy!
Thanks so much for any help!! -

On my Seller Dashboard, I go to “orders”. Then I choose to show my sales for the month:
hhttps://k2b-bulk.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=SalesRecordConsole¤tpage=SCSold&pageNumber=1&urlStack=5508%7CPeriod_Last31Days%7Ccurrentpage_SCSold%7C&searchField=BuyerEmail&searchValues=&StoreCategory=-4&Status=All&Period=CurrentWeek&searchSubmit=Search&goToPage=At the bottom it shows “sale price” and “total price”. Sale Price is the gross profit before the shipping income.
This page shows all your selling costs for the month: https://www.ebay.com/sh/prf/sellingcosts
Usually its about 22% about our sales. -

I’m right around 1700 listings on my main account and my total fees are currently 29.9% of my total sales. Likely largely as a result of the 700 additional listings over my monthly allotment of 1000 I’m guessing.
I don’t have enough listings to bump up to the next store yet, so that’s the price to play.

I don’t find the eBay selling costs page information to be helpful. Like the OP, I find the numbers from various pages on eBay and Paypal don’t match. I use EasyAuctionsTracker and it provides what appears to me to be good numbers, providing gross sales and shipping and handling received separated, and expenses broken down separately (COGS, actual shipping paid, listing fees, FVFs item and shipping, paypal fees, refunds, and a line item expenses that includes store fees) in Monthly, Quarterly, and cumulative P&L statements in addition to a detailed sales spreadsheet with more information than I’ll ever need. It pulls all information automatically from your eBay and Paypal accounts. You still have to enter COGS manually and outside expenses if you want a complete picture.

Agreed. eBay doesnt provide easy to read info on sales and fees. We use Godaddy to pull in all that data for tax purposes.
But we can get enough of a snapshot from eBay for a rough idea of how we’re doing.

Okay – so I’ll do my numbers including shipping label cost to buyer then subtract out what I paid for shipping labels – and all the other fees, I guess that’s more accurate since what they pay and what I pay are 2 different things. So I take the total sales including shipping labels and subtract the total costs and I get a percentage that’s different than what eBay has next to my selling costs percentage! I get 37% and they get 32%. They are both very high- am I doing my numbers differently than the rest of you?
Thanks!!
P.S.
Jay and Ryanne- I am doing this because of you!! Thank you so much!! I first heard you on Paula Pant’s podcast and decided right then that’s what I wanted to do and I’m so happy.
I’m a little worried because I’m only making 5-600/month after all costs and I have a little more than 1,000 items now – most of them are just all the items from my dad’s house when he passed, so I’m hoping when I start hand picking my items my profit will increase…-

Do you have a store subscription? Or are you paying listing fees on each individual item?
