I cobbled together an average week of sales despite not listing much (barely 30 new listings over the week, most on Saturday) and a few days with very little action, offers or solds. Sunday and Monday were busy, and I took an hour out of my evening on Wednesday to run my first end and sell similar batch in two months. This led to quite a bit of packing sold items on Friday. I sold items in ten different categories with 7 of them sports memorabilia related. My main niches (trading card singles, trading card lots) accounted for about half of the sales and all the one-offs and two-offs added up to the other half of the pie. This should be a winning formula in Q4…as long as I pick up my listing pace a little bit!
Card of the week was this Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter shirt relic card which netted me just under $40. $20 COGS, bought in July.
The first memorabilia item to sell was this Evgeni Malkin signed mini hockey stick which surprised me with a UK buyer and surprised me even more when I checked the tracking just now to see that the package has already made into London. Across the Atlantic in five days, that’s amazing and incredible. The hammer price was $119.99 and my net was $74.01. I charged $59.99 for international shipping (fully expecting a US buyer from the Pittsburgh area) and the label cost me $69.88. Promoted listings took a chunk out of my profits as well. But I’m happy. I paid $27.50 for this signed stick back in June.
I’ve started to learn about authenticated, unsigned vintage photographs this year, and I sold on this week this 1980s photograph of F1 racers Ayrton Senna and Johnny Dumfries. On its way to Mecca (yes really) for a $60 offer which netted me $31.12. I paid $25 back in July of 2023, one of my first buys of authenticated photos so a slight overpay. But glad to make a few bucks to get it into someone’s collection.
I made a similar tiny profit on this football signed by both teams from the 2003 East-West Shrine Game. Bought in February for $10 without a ton of research, just figured that a football with 50+ signatures from a college all-star game would be worth something to the right buyer. Turns out that something was…$30, the day after I did end and sell similar and lowered the BIN price from $50 to $40. Looking at the rosters from the game, almost no one played in the NFL more than a few years. Some all-star game!
Sold three full-sized signed jerseys this week, my favorite being this David Sills V West Virginia Mountaineers jersey because the buyer was in the state of West Virginia. Tossed in a couple West Virginia players cards into that package.. Net $37, COGS was $10 because the original consignor thought it was a Bills jersey.
This signed full-sized Liover Peguero Pirates helmet is wrapped up waiting for me to finish packing it. My net is $53 before shipping and my COGS was $10 in March, so I’ll definitely make a few bucks on this one. That was the story of the week, actually. Nothing huge but a lot of consistent little sales and I cleared out a surprising amount of shelf space. A nice way to end Q3!
What did you sell this week?

I kept looking at that WVU jersey thinking “what in tarnation Temu crap is that?”. Clearly not a real jersey. Then it dawned on me, some autograph company probably had 100 or so jerseys of every player they had for a signing made up without any branding and somewhat similar colors/fonts. So it IS basically a Temu jersey. Pretty clever.

Seems like Steve Shultz is no longer making his eBay sold videos. Or, at least he has slowed way down, so I will start posting here. Since I’m covering a long time, I’ve got a lot to talk about.
Books can be a decent seller for me, but I have to buy large lots, look up each one, and list only the valuable ones. This leather bound dictionary in very good condition came in one of those online lots. Sold for $25.

I like to buy flatware because they are usually easy to figure out and list plus they can get good prices since people are trying to fill in missing pieces. This set was very difficult to figure out since it was not marked with a brand name, but had a logo. The closest thing I could figure out was Food Network. I don’t know if I was right, but someone paid $45. I paid just a few dollars from an online auction lot.

Here’s another dictionary from the same lot (or maybe just the same auction) mentioned above. This one was just very large. It sold for $75.

I went to a pickup for an online auction, and someone had swiped a tool lot that I had won. I got my money back, and the managers offered me several lots of glass that hadn’t sold. I really hate to list glass because it is a slow seller. However, I got out my black light and found all the uranium glass. Here is a salt and pepper set that sold for $28.

When I was helping my neighbor downsize, we found a vintage suitcase that was locked up. We were able to open it up, and some nice vintage clothes were stored there. This vintage Pendleton chore shirt sold for $49.

And here is the suitcase we found it in, sold for $29:

This is my first charity sale. A friend had these antique felt paintings from Ukraine, and she wanted the proceeds to go to the World Central Kitchen. The lady who bought it did have a Ukrainian sounding name. It took over a year and sold for $150.

I bought these antler handle knives as part of an online auction lot for a few dollars. I thought that they were just antler looking, but, after seeing that each was randomly different, I realized that these were actually made from antlers. Sold for $40.

A lot of three vintage work lamps did not sell in the online auction that I organized for my neighbor. I tried to give them away to no avail. I finally decided to list them, and the first sold in a few weeks for $59. Hum.

Earlier this year, I think February, I bid up an online auction lot of razors where I thought I saw vintage Gillette, which I know to be really good sellers. I did not realize that different brands are now selling modern versions of them. Nevertheless, a few were worth something, so I started listing those first (I’m still working through this purchase). This one sold for $58, and I’ve also sold another for $45. These pay for the purchase. The rest are only worth $15 and less, but I will group some of them up.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/186683291177
This set of antique books is a commission that has been listed for a few years. Finally sold for $140.

These three knives were purchased in a utensil drawer lot for a few dollars. They sold for $50. I believe that they are similar to Cutco in that the manufacturer will sharpen them for a low price.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/186549684343
I bought a set of 11 small Rorstrand cups and saucers in an online auction lot last year for about $15. Different colors have different price points, for whatever reason. These red set of two sold for $70. I have two sets of yellow that should net me over $200 each, but those will take some time to sell.

I could have swore I saw a post by Steve that he was retiring, so he may not sell anymore.
Ryanne was always the one who posted his vids and she is never here anymore since she’s running her coffee empire. Lol!
Jay is barely here and is clearly too busy to be but he thankfully keeps the lights on and does his numbers.
I think we all know the end is nigh…

I thought he said he was going to retire, but not that he had retired. I will miss his videos.
Yes, I can’t imagine how the two of them are able to have all these businesses. Ryanne was going to restart her AirBnB podcast. How do they find the time? Personally, I don’t have the energy.
I hope they keep the lights on. It is certainly quiet around here, but there are enough contributors to keep it interesting.
