I had an outstanding week in terms of high dollar sales, though with only 23 sales total I don’t expect a repeat this week unless I really hold myself accountable with listing and get lucky.
The big sale was six boxes of haphazardly organized graded cards (the auction in the link + this football lot + this basketball lot) to the same buyer for $300/listing, $900 total. My net on each listing after fees was $244.28, which comes out to $732.84. I try to keep my COGS on these boxes between $100 and $150, so I’m satisfied. I expect that these types of lots will be a core part of my business for the next six months to a year. They take a bit of time and money to put together (which is why I don’t have new ones up yet), but this is the second time in a row that I’ve made a sale of multiple lots in the $900 range. These lots were all listed less than a week.
The largest individual sale I had this week was actually this autographed card of women’s basketball star Paige Bueckers #35/50 for $463 total, $352 net. I paid just over $200 about a month ago. I have learned to trust my gut when I’m really confident about buying an expensive card. In this case, WNBA cards have been exploding thanks to Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, and Bueckers is one of the biggest college stars this season. There’s a consistent history of her numbered autos selling in the $400 range for the last year, but that doesn’t mean every auction hits that number. I don’t generally search out expensive cards like this, but it might become a natural progression to my business as I build up more cash on hand.
Here’s a fun doubled my money sale — this triple panel She-Hulk signed sketch card for $128.76. I had never done much in the non-sports card world before this year, but I’ve worked hard to educate myself, and ultra-modern sketch cards are one of my favorite types of cards to sell. Intricate sketch cards of popular subjects by big name artists go for hundreds. This one did well because it’s She-Hulk and a triple panel sketch, which the original listing did not mention because that’s a lot of words and work.
I had one of my best signed full-size jersey sales this week with this Adam Oates signed Flyers jersey which cost me just $5 with shipping and my net was $50.93. Purchased in August and the original title was so wonky that I couldn’t find the listing in Terapeak and had to go back into my email to find the purchase price. $0.99. Always love those dollar deals!
Also sold this authenticated Penn State ticket stub for $23 after fees. Paid $13 in May, not sure why I paid that much for this ticket since the ticket’s not really vintage, not in a high grade, and not an incredibly significant game. I bought three other tickets in the same order and spent $7 or less on each of them. But, hey, I made a profit on this one, and that’s the name of the game after all.
What did you sell this week?

Oh man this week SUCKED! My sales fell off a cliff. Here are the highlights.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266917452395
Nobull High Top Camo Mens Size 7.5 Sneakers Shoes Canvas Green
Nobull is a great BOLO shoe brand. Sold for full price to an overseas buyer.

1979 Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rookie Of Year NASCAR Action 1/24
Sold on offer for $45. I bought a big lot of Earnhardt die cast stuff at a yard sale this summer for $30 for the whole lot. I’m into the profit after selling 2 items so far.

TOYOTA AVALON RADIO STEREO RECEIVER 09350209 00-04 CD Changer
Sold for full price. I picked this up at a thrift chain I don’t really like going to in Columbus. They’re super high priced, but I found 2 car head units there that I made great money on. This one and a BMW one I made over $200 on. I paid $12.

Lauren Ralph Lauren Lexington Men’s Windowpane Plaid Wool Blend Blazer 44R
This is a Ralph Lauren NWT jacket I actually got at Goodwill, NOT at the hoarder sale. Took an offer of $54 since I was so hungry for a sale.

Rawlings Renegade Catchers Mitt Glove 32.5″ RCM325BB Left Hand Throw Black
Another item I took a lower offer on of $50 since I was desperate for sales. I picked this up at a yard sale where I bought 2 bats I’ve already sold along with this glove. Paid $10 for it.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/334913104405 Grateful for this sale. Another Ebay (seller) made fun of me for listing it high. I did drop the price at one point and took an offer of $485. Paid $14 at my favorite indy thrift before they started raising their art prices.

My big sale of the week was a Pueblo Nativity Scene for $145 on Etsy. This was purchased in a MaxSold auction listed as artist made figures that included the set plus a few similar but unrelated figures. If it had been advertised as a nativity set, I’m sure it would have been bid higher. The full lot was $22 and this set made up 80% of it.
From that same auction, I lotted up a bunch of 1960s Brazilian newspapers mostly discussing Carnival. They came from a $4 lot and sold for $34.

I don’t even know which auction I bought this record headshell with cartridge. I had no way to test it, and it wasn’t complete, so I put a semi-low price of $40, and it sold in a few hours.

Here’s just a fun one; I bought a bunch of art in a 2020 live auction, and most of it has sold. This foam board mounted poster from the movie Snatch finally sold for a bit under $29.
