I had a strong week of sales, 32 items sold with a net of $850. About 47% down from last year, but my eBay inventory and the time I spend on eBay has really changed. I’m thrilled with the numbers. Sold items in 9 different categories with trading card singles still leading the way at 39% of sales and trading card lots at 25%. Those are still the majority of my items, but I stick mostly to cards and card lots which I think will sell quickly. I’m considering doing a big auction clearout of card listings Black Friday week, but maybe I’ll run something like a 35% sale instead.
This Nico Hoerner signed full size bat was the dud of the week. I made about $5 after cubic shipping and fees. Just paid a little too much and (in hindsight) took an offer of 25% that I think was a little lower than I really should have gone. Live and learn, I suppose. At least packaging this bat was a breeze because of my new USPS priority medium tubes…thanks @Sharyn for the tip to pick those up!
Sold a pool ball signed by my old friend, Mr. Pocket Billiards, for $31 net. My third or fourth Willie Mosconi autograph that I’ve sold in the last few years. I need to keep in mind for the next time I find a Mosconi signed item that $20 is too much to pay, even though they sell fast. He scribbled passive aggressive messages with his signatures on a lot of stuff. Listed and sold in less than two months.
One of my older full sized jersey purchases sold this past Friday, this Mike Quick mesh Eagles jersey for $42 net. I can’t find a record of the original purchase, which means the title was probably wonky. I’m pretty sure I paid like $5 with combined shipping for it. The jersey was at the bottom of my listed pile, so it’s been around a while. I also sent the buyer a Mike Quick autographed card which cost me a buck or two along with a few other Eagles cards. The buyer was located in Philadelphia (go Birds) and I hope to see them wearing this jersey at some random Philly bar…even though it’s more likely to stay in a closet with the rest of their Eagles memorabilia collection. Mesh jerseys should be worn!
A few months back, I bought a large pile of 20 something football media guides from 1960s through 1980s Super Bowls and conference championship games. It was just a random find from one of the big card consignment sellers and I did a little Terapeak research and got lucky to win the lot for like $30. This week, I sold my first one. This 1971 AFC Championship booklet basically covers the cost of the lot! Historically, I slack on listing stuff like this, or it doesn’t sell and I pull the listing and donate everything. But I’ve been trying to stick to better quality items, and I think that paid off this time. Nothing gets me motivated to take pictures of unlisted stuff like seeing a weird item like this sell for 80% of full price. I had some duplicate booklets in the pile, too. Unfortunately most of them had DUPE written in ballpoint pen on the front. I need to figure out what to do with those instead of leaving them to sit in some random bin.
I had a bunch of other oddball sales this week. Signed full size jerseys of “the Cajun Cannon”, retired Saints QB Bobby Hebert, and fairly obscure New York Giants tight end Kevin Boss. A puck signed by New York Islanders legend Bryan Trottier. This Japanese promotional postcard of Shohei Ohtani from a few years back when he transferred from Japanese baseball to the MLB. These $30 and $40 sales really add up over a week. This might be my highlight week of Q4, but I hope it’s the start of a few months of solid sales.
What did you sell this week?

I had a strong week as far as quantity, but I didn’t have a real big sale like last week. However, I did have a two good sales over $50.
This silver plate tray was made in Morocco. I bought it as part of a lot in a live auction several years ago, I think 2018-19 timeframe. I set the price up way too high and reduced it some time in the past year or two. I finally sold it with a 15% offer of $67. I noticed that it is correctly described as footed, but I neglected to mention that it only has three feet. It is shown in the photos, but not in the description. I hope that I don’t get it back.

This cute porcelain tea set is a complete set for two. The buyer paid full price of $95. I bought as part of a lot in an online auction a few months ago. Paid about $7.

SEGA GENESIS Controller – Standard 3 Trigger USB Brand New MK-16500
I got this at a yard sale for $1. Nice!

Vintage Ralph Lauren Polo Chino Pleated Pants Trousers 36 X 32 USA MADE
This is why I love Polo Ralph Lauren. These are NOT a premium hoarder item. I got them at Goodwill. Sold on offer for $50. Always look for Ralph Lauren. The Treasure to junk ratio is quite good on this brand and there are plenty of unicorns out there in this brand as well.

Oakley Radar Pace Prizm Lens Sunglasses Bluetooth Connect Missing 1 Earpiece
This was from the recent lot of hoarder sunglasses I got. Sadly one of the earpieces was missing and I missed it…or I dropped it when I went through the contents. Either way, it impacted the sales price pretty hard – sold on offer for $100.

Manolo Blahnik Men’s Mario Blue Raffia Loafers Leather Trim UK 10 US 11
Another pair of shoes from the hoarder collection. If you look at the photos you’ll see this pair had the receipt – that played a big part in my pricing. If I didn’t have the receipt I would seriously question the authenticity. They’re cool shoes and all, but I’ve felt better made shoes in the Thom McCann selection at K-Mart back in the day!
Alot of these designer brands are just selling a name. Most of them just aren’t well made. Louis Vuitton stuff is pretty awesome though and some of the Gucci. High end Ralph Lauren is almost always better in quality across the board.

Oh I left out one interesting item.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266687586034
LL Bean Tweed Wool Tweed Pea Coat Green Womens Size S Petite Wrapped Buttons
Yeah the item and sales price are great, but what makes this interesting is why it possibly sold.
Yesterday I did some inventory management – I moved a bunch of items to a numbered bin in storage. This coat I changed the Custom SKU, as I do with all these items. A bunch of these items showed up in my send offers to buyers yesterday and this one sold for full price.
Clearly the mere activity of revising the listing with a SKU caused some form of visibility bump to these items in ebay search.

@Retro that’s very interesting. After the Christmas rush I will reorganize. I do it by type, mostly in bankers boxes. However, when I do my COGS this January I’d like to add to my listings in the custom sku the price I paid (now recorded on paper). I found out I can ask Ebay to print that out on my yearly report. It would be nice to get a bump.

Someday, ebay will add a few tools to help sellers do bookkeeping. All the really need to do is add 1-2 more custom SKU’s. If I could put my COGS in an SKU separate from my location SKU that would be sweet!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/235823861916 I’ve sold these before used. Cute little bolo. Sold fast both times. There is far less Thanksgiving decor out there. I do well with it. These are common but always sell for me this time of year. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235805455951
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235819196240 Free item at the flea market. Thimbles can be good. I have a bag of them in my death piles somewhere…
