From what I can tell, things are slow out in eBay-land for almost everyone right now, and my store is no exception. Last week, I had about $500 in net sales and 13 items sold. Those overall numbers are heavily boosted by a $249 net sale of this set of 4 Russell Wilson autographed printing plates which I picked up from the Panini Rewards site about a year and a half ago for a total of about $120. This sale took some patience, but I’m happy with the end result. Almost all of my other sales this week were in the $20 net range. This has been a pretty typical week for me over the last couple months, and I’m fortunate that eBay is not my only reselling platform! If it were, I’d be hurting for cash right now.
This was also the first week that I can remember where 100% of my sales were in trading card categories. No random items, just card lots and card singles. That makes sense since I’ve only been averaging about 20 new listings/week on eBay for the last month or two, and most of those have been my card lots. The NFL Draft was a few weeks ago, and I’ve had some success making lots with cards of this year’s draftees mixed in among cards of other players from that team, like this Jaguars lot which featured an unlicensed (read: less valuable) college 1/1 card of #2 overall pick Travis Hunter and sold for full price of $39.99. The Hunter card cost me $6, and the other 9 cards cost me about $6 total, but most (if not all) of those other 9 cards have been sitting in the Jaguars section of one of my football inventory boxes forever. It’s nice to get any sale right now, but especially one that moves some dead inventory.
I’m going to get as many of these lots sorted and listed now while things are slow. No point in focusing on a lack of sales, just keep doing the work and eventually things will sell. No point in dooming either. Even if sales remain slow on eBay, there are always different ways to sell and no doubt there will be good buying opportunities. One constant in reselling is to recognize that you can pivot and change processes or plans at any time. Something to keep in mind right now more than ever.
What did you sell this week?

I had a nice sale of some high-end cabinet hardware. The buyer bought these cabinet knobs: https://www.ebay.com/itm/236089336597
And they also bought these drawer pulls: https://www.ebay.com/itm/236086413110
It ended up being about $175 in sales in cabinet hardware. That is all from a $5 box I bought from a yard sale I happened upon 2 weeks ago. I still have some hardware left, maybe another $75-100 worth.
Other than those sales, it was a lot of vacuum cleaner parts, like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/236084611948
And some needlepoint stretcher bars: Stretcher Bar Frame Lot 70 pieces 9″ to 24″ Needlepoint Embroidery Needlework | eBay

Thanks for posting these, Liz. Such an interesting mix of items! Ever since I found this podcast, I have had a good idea of the value of taking apart appliances, but seeing your sales is a nice reminder that it still works. Are you getting most of this stuff at yard sales and estate sales? I’m so deep into my single niche and do 99% of my buying on eBay, so I love this forum for giving me a window into all these other items that I would never come across. It’s always good to have a wide knowledge base, just in case.
Those needlepoint stretcher bars are a great sale! How long did you have that lot listed before it sold?

<span tabindex=”-1″ data-testid=”ux-textual-display” aria-hidden=”true”><span class=”ux-textspans”>Pixar Cars Mack Hauler Carrying Case 16 Car Dinoco 400 Toys R Us Exclusive</span></span>
Sold on offer for $65. So a few years ago I got a HUGE lot of pixar cars stuff – 2 extra large overflowing bins worth. I’ve made soooo much money off of this lot and only ever listed half of it. The rest has been collecting dust on a death cart for years. Well no more! I’ve been working through the rest of it. There was a big pile of Mack trucks that this was in and I originally discounted all of it as undesirable low priority. Well…I was wrong. I didn’t realize this one was a storage truck AND it was full of minty cars with real rubber tires. Some of the cars that were in this thing sell for $30 each.
