I have noticed a somewhat steadier flow of sales over the last few weeks as I’ve tried to get more consistent with creating new listings — 5 each day instead of 3, and 5-6 days/week instead of 4. It’s not a magic pill, but it does seem to lead to things both old and new selling a little better.
My favorite sale this week was this 1984 MLB photographer’s press pass for $47.51 gross/$33.86 net. I paid $9 for it back in January. This is one of my favorite sales of the year because, while I know the modern sports card market extremely well, I don’t ever really buy or sell items like this. When I do buy them, they often go in a bin or shelf and sit there for a while. But I got this one listed. And it sold for a nice offer! Very gratifying.
Another sale that I’m proud of is this signed Evgeni Malkin Import Dragons figure. Coincidentally, scavenged from the same seller for $10 back in April. $70.80 gross/$38.36 net. This sale convinced me to stock up on few different sizes of smaller boxes (always tricky since I’m in an apartment and space limited) so I can use ground advantage shipping more often. Still happy with the nice profit. I don’t generally sell action figure or collectible figures, but Malkin is one of the best hockey players of all-time and the signature was authenticated by Beckett, one of the top grading companies. It was very lucky to win the original auction for an $8.50 hammer price.
My “big” sale of the week was a full sized baseball bat signed by Chicago Cubs minor leaguer Ed Howard which cost me $10 back in April, sold for $27 and I shipped the bat in the original tube I received it in and got whomped on the shipping, leaving me with a net profit of…$1.03. I’ll try not to spend it all in one place! Honestly, this was a bad buy if you go by Terapeak history and a decent sale if you look at active listings. Howard is currently batting .220 with 0 home runs in single-A ball, three rungs below the majors, so I’m just happy to move on from this bat with a few lessons learned and an extra buck for the rainy day fund.
What did you sell this week?

IIRC, you don’t have a car. What you could do is order boxes on demand from Walmart and have them delivered. Just cross the free shipping threshold and you just pay for what you need – no need to order boxes in bulk. The best part is that you’ll likely get same day delivery by a driver.

Yeah, this is typically something like what I do. I used Staples for all my supplies the last fewyears since it was pretty easy to order a lot of stuff and spend less than $25 net between coupons, discounts and store credits for ink recycling. But they changed their Rewards program recently and the deals are not as good. Likely the change was due to scavengers like me exploiting every loophole possible. So it is probably time to figure out a new plan for supplies. I’m not too far from a Walmart so that might be the way to go.

So first off, I made a sale that isn’t ebay or business related that was fun. I bought two of those egg chairs off of Amazon that were on a special sale. My cost was $250 for two ($300-50 in amazon rewards points from my CC). I got the chairs, and one had a broken wicker wrap on one of the pieces. I contacted the seller, sent them a photo and they said they would send me a replacement piece. Well they sent me an ENTIRE new chair! At that point you’re darn right I’m going to repair the broken one. So now I have 3 chairs. I built the first one, sat down to relax after that hard work in the heat….and immediately HATED it! Dang… that stinks. I couldn’t sit back in it to relax – only a person my wife’s height could comfortably sit in it, and even then it wasn’t great. To make matters worse the only thing the egg top part really did was give birds a place to perch and crap on the cushions! I never even took the other two out of the box. I listed them on FBMP and began the frustrating process of dealing with tire kickers and dead beats. Once it was all said & done I sold all 3 chairs for $500. So a happy accident netted me $250 profit. Scavenger life for the win!
Now onto ebay sales:

Fisher Price Disney Baby Finding Nemo Soothing Sea Soother Crib Toy Music Lights
Death pile item I got at some point for $2. Sold within a few days for full price.

Axe Element Fastpitch Bat 31″ 19 oz MX8 HyperWhip Endcap L151H Official Softball
This was one of the items my kids sourced when they did the broke homeschoolers challenge. I bought them out and absorbed their items into my inventory when they lost interest. Sold on offer for $40. Now I get to teach them the valuable lesson of investing – I made a huge profit because A: I had cash, and B: I had patience.

Another premium hoarder item. Sold on offer for $150.

Love the egg chair fiasco turned into a huge profit! I don’t like using Amazon but for some items, it makes sense and if there’s ever a shipping hiccup or damaged item, you will often end up with multiples. I’m sure this used to be more common a few years ago but nice to hear it still happens sometimes.
How are you packaging things like your transformers? I have a bin or two of oddball stuff like that in my listing pipeline…not my specialty at all…but stuff that I’ve accumulated for good deals. Not my first priority to list but definitely want to get it all listed by end of summer so the collectors (and flippers?) can buy it all up in Q3 and Q4…
Nice to see the premium hoarder stuff still selling. That leopard sweater is certainly unique! Going to price the next one even higher or same price range?

<p style=”text-align: center;”>IThe transformer went in a box with packing peanuts.
I keep several box sizes on hand that are my go to sizes for toys, electronics, and misc items: 6x4x4, 8x6x4, 10x8x6, 12x12x8, 15x10x6, 18x12x6. The two larger ones also work great for boxed shoes.
those box sizes cover me for pretty much everything that doesn’t go in a poly mailer or is just super big or awkward.</p>
I’ll list the next shirt like that at $200 again. I have to find it first. LOL! I’m buried under death pile mountain. -

https://www.ebay.com/itm/235426535201 Not an extremely profitable sale but a rare example of a discontinued Costco item flip.
The best part about last week’s sales was the old stale items selling. I also sold several estate sale items that I paid almost nothing for.
