Best week of sales I’ve had in quite some time — big sales, fun sales, sales a little outside my comfort zone, so let’s get into them.
An autograph with inscription of Paul Skenes, the #1 pick last year and current phenom pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, for $325 to a repeat customer. Purchased at the very tail end of May from consignment site for $200 in credit. Their cash-out fee is 10%, so sometimes I cash out with cards I can flip. I like to double my money (at least) when flipping individual cards, but margins get lower on expensive cards. $50ish after shipping and fees is a much lower margin than I’d like on an expensive card like this one, but I thought it would sell very quickly and I was correct. Is this a winning strategy over time? Maybe!
A pair of boxes of graded and encapsulated cards to the same buyer for $650 with free shipping. No joy in life like shipping out 15 pounds of cards to one buyer. I would love to do that every week! This was a rare case of the buyer sending a message asking for a discount and it actually led to a deal. I usually don’t respond to those messages, but this buyer was specific about wanting to buy these two listings and capable of constructing full sentences. So I sent my usual quick reply: a message telling them exactly what to offer on each listing if they were interested. Ten minutes later we had a deal. I hope they are happy with their cards. Now I can restock the store with two more of these lots this week. It will be fun. These $300 sales really juice your numbers!
A Battle of Normandy WW2 authenticated photograph for $125, which breaks down to just under $89 after fees and shipping. Purchased in late January for $40 from one of my favorite consignment sellers. I would say this was a Terapeak special, but I’ve sold enough of these authenticated photographs now that I have a general idea of their worth. Still have one more in the inventory which I expect will sell in the same price range.
Finally, Boston Celtics Al Horford locker room plate from the 2018 All Star Game for a whopping $170 gross/$135 net. Purchased for $25 back in January along with five or six other nameplates, all in the $20 to $40 range. I dillied and dallied on listing these until a few weeks ago in time for the NBA finals, which Horford is participating in as a member of the Celtics. None of the other nameplates in my inventory are on the Celtics or their opponents the Mavericks, so they will probably take a bit longer to sell. But this nice sale is very encouraging. I hope I can find more memorabilia items from the players locker rooms and special events like this.
What did you sell this week?

Patagonia Women S Stellar Blue Turtle Shorts Little Flippers Baggies Drawstring
Last summer I bought a bunch of patagonia shorts and tank tops at Dick’s Sporting Goods on 90% off clearance. So I paid like $3 for these shorts. I’ve sold quite a few pair of these and I have a couple pair left.

BJU Bob Jones 5th grade MATH 5 3rd Ed COMPLETE SET Distance Learning SEE DESC
This was from the large lot of homeschool curriculum I bought at a yard sale last year. Summer is the best time to sell school books – a great way to offset some of the summer slowdown.

Cricketeer Mens Sport Coat Blazer Sport Jacket Two Button Measures 36R Vintage
I wanted to get alot more for this originally, but I did an end/sell similar a bit ago with a reduced price and then took an offer of $30 on top of that. Fine with me! Still a great profit. Gotta get this stuff out the door!

Yard sale find from last year. One item of many in a box for $5, so my buy cost was less than $1. Sold for $50 on offer.
