The fun things about doing these posts and going over your numbers week after week is coming across those things that get lost in the day to day processing of your eBay business and your life. I realized in last week’s thread how much my eBay inventory has been changing recently, and this week the numbers reflect it: an amazing 80% of my sales were from the curated card lots I’ve been making, with the other 20% in the sports trading card singles category.
There are a few big takeaways from this, but the primary one is that I’m maintaining a very high sell-through rate right now, in the range of 10% every week. How long can I keep that up? The rest of this year will be an interesting test. These curated lot listings operate in a very unique space, since most card sellers are either huge consignment sellers with thousands of listings or small-time collectors and flippers with a handful. I’m somewhere in the middle, and my knowledge and attention to detail set me apart.
I’ve developed a nice system for making these listings and recently I have learned that the formula works when I increase the quality (and price) slightly or increase the size of the lot. I also had a huge number of multi-quantity buyers last week — four Pittsburgh teams lots to one buyer, five Texas based teams lots to another buyer, and a couple sales where the buyer bought two at a time. I’ve also had great success with women’s basketball cards as mentioned last week, and it will be interesting to see if those cards continue to sell throughout the year.
I have about 50 listings in my store which don’t fall in the trading card singles or lots category. These include non-sports trading cards, authenticated autographs, memorabilia and the occasional oddball item. I am going to make it a priority to list a few more things in those categories later this week to see if it will increase sales in those categories.
What did you sell this week?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/335057048869 Took about 6-9 months to sell. Paid $10 or 15. I just found two pillow shams of this make at the college recycling sale, one in the package. Made an offer on that this morning. 99% of the college bedding is well used or basic brands, so it’s pretty easy to spot the best stuff.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/334913104193 This took forever to sell. I thought it was so fun and maybe a prop place would buy it.

Nike Zoom Shox Elite Womens Size 9.5 Black Basketball Shoes 316685-011 2007

Over and Back Strawberry Pie Dish Keeper Made in Portugal
Found this at Goodwill for $6. Sold for full price. I went WAY oversize on the packing box after my latest USPS insurance debacle. They just straight up don’t pay claims now even after jumping through all the hoops and having the postmaster tell me “oh yeah this is about as cut & dry as it gets. This will surely be approved” as they took the package from me.

Gerber Variable Scale Engineering Slide Rule Model TP007100B w/ Case Vintage
Took an offer of $115. I got a whole box of vintage drafting/map tools at a yard sale for $5 a year or two ago. This was one of the best items.

Polo Ralph Lauren Catch & Release Vintage T Shirt Long Sleeve Men’s Size XXL
Sold on offer for $70. This was a premium hoarder item. Why was this use shirt worth so much? Who knows! Buyer is happy though, that’s all that matters.
