Another really strong week of sales, 48 items sold thanks to keeping up the grind and a long overdue end and sell similar on about 2/3 of the listings in my eBay store. First time I’d done end and sell similar in about three months, and it paid off to the tune of 20 (!!) items sold over the course of the week. I’m sure a few of those would have sold anyway, but I doubt that all 20 of them would have. I dropped the price on about half of the sold items, usually by $10, and I accept offers on top of that. So sometimes I was $20 off my target price. But there will always be more to buy and sell. Let’s get things sold and move on to something else.
My high sale of the week was this Kyrie Irving autographed rookie card which had been priced at $299.99 with 0 watchers for the last month. Then I did end and sell similar, dropped the price to $199.99 and it sold at my asking price in three days. Doubled my money. Looking at Terapeak solds, I had the card priced on the high end of solds because I wanted to triple my money. But that was too high. It’s a great example of pricing things to sell versus putting museum pricing and never making a sale.
Another high individual card sale was this Maxx Crosby autographed jersey card for $165. This card was not part of the end and sell similar batch. It was a recent pickup from the Panini Rewards site which is one of my favorite convoluted ways of scavenging. Panini drops new cards on the site once a week which are purchased with rewards points. The secondary market for unredeemed Panini points is around $5 per 150 points, and this Crosby card cost 3000 points (plus a few bucks shipping), so around $100. A little higher than I like to pay on a Panini Rewards purchase. Usually I look for their underpriced cards. But I am a true down and dirty scavenger when it comes to finding these points. I am constantly hunting for deals and figuring out ways to get them for a good price, which keeps my COGS at closer to half the market rate. Crosby is a popular defensive player for the Raiders, so I knew this card would sell quick and I was correct about that. I still have three more of his autographs in my inventory, and those cost me 1500 points each, which was a very good deal.
It may be summer, but out of season items sell year-round on eBay and this week I squeezed out $100 in sales from some autographed hockey memorabilia: this signed Dave Andreychuk Maple Leafs jersey and this Manon Rheaume signed puck. Both part of the end and sell similar batch, both sold after dropping the price $10 and changing my offer settings. Funny how that works.
Sold 3 more Elvis memorabilia cards over the course of the week plus this printing plate used to make one of the cards from the expansive 2008 Press Pass Elvis set. All my Elvis sales this week added up to about $100. I’ve sold 12 Elvis cards out of my eBay store in the last 90 days for a net of about $250 after fees, and those cards cost me about $150 in my consignment credit. So, instead of paying the consignment cash-out fee of 10%, I made an extra $100 buying these Elvis cards, getting them shipped to me, listing them and flipping them on eBay. A little bit of work, but not a bad gig if you can create it for yourself. And that’s what we do every week.

Sold for full price $200. This took a 16×16 box and it had to be put in diagonally. It is deceptively huge! The sticker price at this yard sale was $20, but I ended up paying $100 total for a HUGE haul of clothing, toys, and this hat. If I divide COGS amongst alll items I paid about $2.50.

Spanky’s Quest Super Nintendo SNES Authentic Tested Working Cleaned
This is from the big video game haul I got on an ask 2 weeks ago. I paid $20 for a Nintendo and a bunch of games. I cleaned all the games, disassembled and cleaned the pins, and replaced the battery if the games had one (old nintendo games with save functions have a battery inside the cart). To get top dollar you have to have clean games…and I wanted all the dollars. Sold for full price.

Another game from the same sale where I paid $5 for a big stack of PS2/PS3 games. They were all in rough shape. How I deal games now is I scan or enter all games into the pricecharting app to see what they sell for on ebay on average. Any games that are low dollar ($8 or less) get set aside to lot up. Anything I can sell $10 and up gets listed individually. Any complete games that sell for $15-20+ I will sub out the nicest condition boxes from the cheap games. This one is a good example – a desirable PS2 horor genre game but the box was trashed. I swapped out a nice box from one of the $4 games.

Vintage popcorn poppers are BOLO as long as they have a certain style bottom in the heating section. You want the ones that spin the kernels in a vortex. NOT the ones that just blow air straight up. People buy them to do coffee bean roasting.
