Slightly quieter in my eBay store compared to last week, but individual card sales of $350 and $300 meant that I didn’t have to grind as hard with new listings this week, so I kind of took it easy. This Reggie Miller 2017 Panini Chronicles autograph jersey was almost all profit, since it was the replacement I received for an unfulfilled autograph redemption of a different player. Usually when you get a replacement for a redemption, it’s something much less valuable. This one was a huge win. My cost for the original redemption of the other player was around $5. It might be five years before I get another redemption replacement win like this. But it was nice while it lasted.
On May 21st, I picked up this PSA 9 dual 1/1 autograph of hockey legends Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg for $82 in a live auction and happily sold it this week to a regular buyer for $300. The value is in the 1/1 serial number and the fact that the card is autographed by two Hall of Fame Colorado Avalanche players, not so much the grade. While some raw (ungraded) cards can see their values surge if you submit them for grading and they come back a high grade, it’s a bit odd to grade a 1/1 card.
I had a few oddball items sell as well. This Rob Thomson signed Phillies jersey was a quick flip, bought in early April for $25 and sold this week for full price of $100. Thomson is the Phillies manager, and the Phillies are having a great season, so they’ve been a popular seller this year.
I expected to sit on this Super Bowl football signed by 16 players for a long time before finding the right buyer, but it only took a few months to make my $25 profit. I have a few bins of items like this to get listed before we get into Q4, and made a little dent in the pile this weekend and want to make another dent before Wednedsay.
I have a regular buyer who has only ever purchased autographs and patch cards of players from Chinese Taipei, which is maybe the most specific collection I know of. They have just one or two sets to choose from, while most American players have cards in 20 or more sets every year. I need to restock my favorite buyer’s favorite cards because they bought my last 4 autographed Taipei patch cards to finish off the week, about $50 profit total.
What did you sell this week?
