I had a strong weekend of sales last week on eBay and with my card consignment, so I threw caution to the wind on Sunday and spent about an hour sending most of my eBay inventory to auction. 7 day auctions, starting bids around half my buy it now price, best offer (which is free) added to the auction with minimum offer set slightly above my minimum bid. I listed 24 new items last week, a big improvement from 12 the week before, but still not a huge number. With around 100 BIN/BO listings in my store (plus 275 at auction), I expected a slow week of sales…and mostly, that’s what I got with 19 sold items. But a few big ticket items meant that my net was in the $500 range, which is not too far from my normal eBay week and a pretty solid number considering the context.
The two big ticket items were individual cards, a throwback to what has been the majority of my eBay business over the years. This Jayden Daniels 1/1 2024 Pro Set card was the high sale on an offer of $180. He was the hot rookie quarterback this year. I didn’t have this one in inventory for long. I bought the card on December 21st at auction for $40. I was tempted to let the bids play out since Daniels’s Commanders team just had a nice playoff run, mostly thanks to his great play. But I felt like $180 offer was too good to pass up. Best of all, the buyer sent me an excited message when I accepted their offer, and those kinds of interactions are why I still love selling on eBay.
This authenticated signature of comedian Archie Campbell cost me $7 back in August and sold for a net of $21. Love flips like this, especially since eBay shipping supplies has a perfect size bubble mailer for this size of graded case.
This So Taguchi St. Louis Cardinals signed 16×20 photo is the third one I’ve sold in the last few months in the $20 range. Not bad for a $5 total investment! Best of all, now I’ve got a stack of 17 x 21 envelopes for the next time I find a little pipeline of oversized signed photos. This seems to be a nice niche. Auction prices on oversized signed photos vary wildly, probably because shipping is too high unless if you’re like me and buying 20+ items from the same seller. But they sell well as BIN/BO, probably because few sellers offer them at reasonable prices. Now all I need is for the manufacturer Ultra Pro to run a sale on 16 x 20 toploaders and I’ll be golden.
This baseball signed by Gene Hermanski, who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1940s, went for a $21 offer. I have all of my signed baseball and hockey puck inventory in one disorganized box, which I will have to organize better this month. Isn’t it such a bummer when something sells and your first thought is Oh no, I have to go through that inventory box…
What did you sell this week?

Pretty rough week.

Dictaphone 2750 ExpressWriter Cassette Voice Processor Transcriber Tested
Sold for full price. I was going to list this for $50 untested, but the variable power supply I picked up for less than $20 let me fully test it. I fully tested this and one other oddball voltage item I didn’t have the adapter for that let me make an extra $60 in total. That investment paid off immediately!

RRL Ralph Lauren Drawstring Sweatpants Joggers Men’s 2XL Black Indigo Dye NWT
It was a rough week so I took an offer of $140 on these. That’s fine – I was on the high end anyways.

K2 Lil Kat BOA Snowboard Boots Kids 13 Black Pink Dial Snowboarding Girls Boys
Snowboard boots can be great sales but you have to be very picky to make sure it is a desirable boot. These had been sitting on a death shelf for over a year and I see them all the time. Not anymore! Now they are gone and put cash in my pocket.

Last summer, I bought this antler handle carving set with similar items in a MaxSold auction. I listed it at $40 which was a bit high. Someone offered $25, and I countered at $30. When he counted again at $25, I declined. I’m accepting low offers on items I’ve had for along time, but this one is not that old. Later, he contacted me and said that he would accept the $30. In cases like this, I reprice the listing and tell them to purchase within 48 hours.

When I first bought this Oriental style lamp, I listed it over $100 based on similar looking lamps. I don’t recall my research at that time, but this one didn’t have what it took for that price. After a few price reductions over the years, I took an offer of $40. This was just me trying for the sky, but still got a good value for my dollar or so investment. It was a pain to pack.

These mailbox covers were listed at the beginning of the year. One of the last things I listed before focusing on reducing my inventory. Sold for $20. I bought it in an auction lot with other items, but I don’t think these were the main pull, so paid a dollar or two.
