I had a slow week two weeks ago and was back to normal last week. But this week was another brutal set of numbers, just 12 items sold with net sales a mere $249.50. Yikes! To be fair, eBay has become a part-time piece of my reselling business. The card consignment business is really what pays my bills, and I’ve focused my time on that more and more to the detriment of my eBay sales. That equation will flip at some point, but probably not soon. It only makes sense to follow the money.
The one oddball item I sold this week was this Quincy Smith signed baseball, a player from the Negro Leagues, which netted me about $10 profit. I sold just 3 individual trading cards for a net of about $75 and 8 of my card lots sorted by team which got me the rest of the way. And that was my week on eBay!
It will be interesting to see how my eBay store performs in March. I was very inconsistent at listing throughout February, and that continued last week when I had four days where I did not list anything. I would love to change that trend this week! One of the funny things about reselling is that it is not always predictable and the work you do this week might not pay off for weeks (or months) down the line. The flip side of that is that if you slow down on good listing practices, it might bite you in the butt next week or next month. In the end, there will be good weeks down the line and bad ones. No use in getting too high or too low about any of them.
What did you sell this week? I hope you had lots of sales and that eBay was only this slow for me!

@Craig-Rex – I also had a slow week. The big sales of the previous two weeks are gone, and I’m left with 6 measly sales with an average price of about $20.
My best sale was a vintage wood folding hanger made by Union for $30. It is the second one I sold, but the interesting thing is the buyer, Shop Airlines. I’ve sold maybe half a dozen items to them over the 9-ish years I’ve been an eBay seller. They sell Americana to Japanese customers via their website, but I think they started selling their wares on airplanes (hence their name).

My second biggest sale was a sealed bar of Chanel soap on commission.

@Sharyn I have always had great experiences with Shop Airlines and other freight forwarders for many years now. Freight forwarders and US mailboxes are big in the trading card world since there are a lot of deep pocket card buyers in Asia (mostly China and Japan) and to a lesser extent, Australia and Europe. Similar to Global Shipping, seller protection covers you as soon as the item gets to the US address. I don’t know how big a customer base Shop Airlines America has anymore, but good to see them still hanging around.

Yes, I think it’s a lot about consistently making new listings. I’ve heard and believe that’s got to be a heavily weighted factor in Cassini.
February is always my worst month, and we have a lot of uncertainty this February. @Craig you have March Madness coming up and I usually have good home decor sales in March and April.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235819204348 Sold a painting by an unknown artist for $90.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235819201475 Great sale! Has been listed forever and went overseas. Not my usual but I know to look for this.

@Christine Baseball just around the corner too. Baseball has always been the sport I know best, so I’m hoping I can really move some cards over the next few months. I’d love to clear out even more inventory this spring than I did last spring and summer.
I wouldn’t have ever guessed that home decor is popular in March or April, but I guess it makes sense if most people’s “normal” is spring cleaning.
That painting and the Lisa Frank clipboard are visually so striking. And both sold for like 2-3 times what I would have guessed. Great sales!

I tried posting my numbers in both threads and the forum broke both times. Oh well.
Here’s a couple highlights from the past week:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/267097312835
Polo Ralph Lauren Hampton Red Line Selvedge Blue Denim Jeans 46Bx34
NOT a hoarder item. Found these in the wild at Goodwill recently. Unfortunately the closest Goodwill now charges an outrageous $12 with tax for jeans! I only pick up $50+ jeans from there because of it.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266453562113
Frye Men Philip Harness Boots Black 3487870-BLK Size 11 M New In Box
Sold on offer for $225. $25 pair of hoarder shoes.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266968063756
Jacob Cohen Men’s J620 Handmade Luxury Blue Jeans Button Fly Size 40×36
An uncommon brand to keep an eye out for. Sold 3 pair of hoarder designer jeans to the same person. My cost on these jeans averages out to $12 a pair.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266457411336
LOS ALTOS Men’s Red Ostrich Leg Boots 6X Pointed Toe Size 11.5 EE 1960512
Sold on offer for $350 after I revised the BIN price. Originally had $500 on them. Hoarder shoes so $25 COGS.

California Raisins Vintage Halloween Costume 1987 CALRAS – Adult Med With Hair
And here’s a fun little item I ‘bought’ this summer. My older kids did a yard sale at their grandmother’s house. Some of our stuff we normally would donate to goodwill plus whatever grandma brought out. I picked up a few things when it was time to close down. I paid them a couple bucks for this item that came out of grandma’s house.
I’ve sourced some pretty awesome stuff from Grandma’s house over the years. She’s been a goodwill shopping hoarder for a long long time.

Love those jeans and boots sales. Those prices are amazing! But obviously that Raisins costume is sale of the week. The hair is in incredible condition for its age!

@retro-treasures-wv – Your comments in the “Week of February 23 – March 1, 2025” seem to have disappeared, but the previous week comments did get posted.

only two sales for me for Feb 23 to Mar 1. hopefully more to come this week.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/197061583661
This is one of the Mercedes car parts I recently purchased. It’s a steering column lock. Believe most of the parts I bought are for older Mercedes vehicles. This one sold on an offer at $45. It’s being shipped to Europe through ebay at a cost to the buyer of $63.00!https://www.ebay.com/itm/196932355440
and sole another plastic desk model airplane. This one is Reno Air and was missing a piece of the tail. Sold for $14.00. I made all my money back on the airplane collection months ago.
