I really slacked off on new listings over the middle two weeks of December (23 listings the week of the 8th and 18 the week of the 15th) and that led to a magnificently slow final week of 2024, just 14 items sold for less than 300 net. 10 of the sold listings were my curated team-specific card lots, and I average $10 to $15 profit on those, so all things considered…not the worst numbers on a terrible week!
I sold two non-card items: this autographed photo of 5’7″ former NBA Slam Dunk champion Spud Webb which netted me $11.37, or $8 profit after COGS. Nothing crazy but photos are so easy to store and list.
This signed Ryan Suter Team USA hockey jersey sold last night, and I haven’t printed the shipping label yet, but my net will be around $30. This means that my shelf of jerseys purchased over the course of 2024 is down to just one survivor, Clayton Thorson, and you best believe I am going to send out some aggressive offers to the two watchers once eBay gives me the option. Next, to find some buyers for my box of (mostly) signed hockey pucks and baseballs. I have about 15 of those listed and would love to see them start selling…
What did you sell this week?

Davey Allison 1986 #95 Miller Action Historic Series 1:24 scale Stock Race Car
Sold on offer for $110. Paid $5 at a yard sale. Most of these collectible cars aren’t worth much. This one was an outlier.

Graphex Optar 135mm Camera Lens Vtg F/4.7 Graflex Photography Antique Wollensak
Another vintage lens from a big lot I bought this summer at a yard sale. What a great pipeline!

Polo Ralph Lauren Yacht Club Vest White Men’s Size XXL Vintage NWT
Sold on offer for $200. This is a hoarder collection item.

Super Nintendo SNES AV RCA Video Cable Factory Sealed Original OEM
This was in the SNES box I sold last week. High end gaming collectors are a special breed, and I knew this would potentially have value on its own. Only a super high end collector trying to put together the most minty fresh complete original snes would ever want something like this. Sure enough, sold for full price. They basically paid for the staple and the bag. Most expensive staple I ever sold!

White House Black Market White Pinstripe Womens Pantsuit Size 16 Jacket 12 Pants
I normally don’t highlight bread n butter sales, but this is an important one. I bought a TON of women’s clothes from a yard sale this past October. Tons of nicer brand upper tier mall brand – most new with tags. I paid $2-3 an item but the sales prices are typically in the $25-50 range. I’ve only just started listing some of this lot, so hopefully this is a sign of times to come. This was one of those times where I make an exception to my scavenging rules. When such a large collection of all very clean or even NWT bread n butter items are in one place and at a very low price I feel it is worth going ahead and going all in. To source this much bread n butter items from Goodwill would take years and probably 100+ hours of sourcing time going through racks. The COGS would also be much higher. Now at the time I knew I had started my two oldest 100% listing clothing so knowing I would have zero of my own time tied up in the listing process this made the purchase even more of a no-brainer – it would be about as close to printing money as you can get. Sadly that didn’t work out with my older kid, but my son will still photograph it all for me.

Oneida Glimmer Silverware Forks Spoons Knives Serving Set Stainless Lot of 18
These are from a death pile lot of mixed silverware I let sit for years. It paid off to take some time and break the lot up and find the make/models of each set. I have sold all but one listing from that lot and have made about $200 off that $3 investment.

WWE Championship Spinner Foam Belt Raw Youth Wrestling Cena 2005 Jakks Pacific
I still have a soft spot for toys. This one met my STR criteria (greater than 100% 90 day) so I picked it up earlier this month for $4 at Goodwill. Sold for full price in 10 days. I’ll take a $20-30 sale all day long if I know it will sell very quickly.

That SNES cable is one of my favorite sales of yours, ever. It just looks like every other electronics doohickey! But of course it matters that is from the original SNES box and I do understand, on some level, why collectors pay up for these types of mint in package items even if I think it’s wild to spend money that way. Great sale!
Love that Cena belt. I think $4 to the $20 range is the perfect flip to build a solid reselling inventory.

I was pretty excited in terms of what sold last week, not necessarily the prices. I sold some Christmas cards I posted after Christmas. Also sold some more old listings of dishes! I still think these are cool but I’m being way more careful about picking up this kind of thing. The mugs are cool but not rare on Ebay. The plaid plates are fun but super long tail – like years. The bowls took a year or two. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335658544393 https://www.ebay.com/itm/335658553209 https://www.ebay.com/itm/235819204357 I’m really trying not to just source things that I think are attractive and I’m using google lens more often if shopping.

I just created my forum post talking about last week’s big sale of two vintage JBL speakers.
My other big sale was an 8-piece set of glass bowls and plates for $52. I bought them as part of a larger auction lot for around a dollar. The other unusual thing is that a buyer from Saudi Arabia bought them and had them shipped through eBay for a total over $200. I’ve had a few buyers from Saudi Arabia this way, and I can only assume that they have matching pieces that they can only get through an international purchase.

It’s weird that you mention Saudi Arabia. I had a really chatty buyer from there this week.

my biggest single item was a briefcase. I’ve had it a long time, paid either $20 or $25 which was too much (lesson learned) and it’s been up for sale for a few years. Took a best offer of $50 to just get it moved out of here.
