Another somewhat quiet week on eBay for me, but I have turned a corner in terms of organizing my inventory. I’m down to my last half dozen small boxes on the floor full of unsorted cards. Everything else has a home in a labeled, organized monster (1000+) card box. This has been something I’ve struggled with throughout my reselling life, back to the days when I was mostly selling used media items, and it’s kind of cool to see my progress. Once there are no more small boxes on the floor, I can organize inventory as it comes in, which will leave me more time to devote to selling randoms on eBay. What a life!
Most of my eBay new listing energy has been devoted to updating and refreshing my team lots. I went through all of them after my last batch of auctions and removed about 30 from my store which had stale players (traded to a new team or signed away in free agency) or just boring cards. A lot of my positive feedback from buyers about these lots has praised their value, so that feels like a directive – make sure all 10 cards in the lots are “good” ones. It’s also important to make sure that the cards, and their cases, look nice. Aesthetics matter.
I have been selling women’s basketball almost as fast as I can make the lots. This week, another Uconn Huskies lot, no surprise after Paige Bueckers went #1 in the WNBA draft. The new Bowman Chrome college set came out recently, so I’ll be buying and selling those cards all summer so I am well stocked for next season.
On the men’s side, Duke’s Cooper Flagg will be the #1 pick of the NBA draft in a few months, and I’ve been selling his cards consistently. While I find the special features of cards (autographs, memorabilia relics, and especially serial numbered inserts with unique designs) most interesting, selling cards of “hot” players — usually base cards, or shiny inserts — has allowed me to buy and sell in a lot more volume. This Duke lot was the fifth I’ve sold since February and fourth since March Madness. I paid about $5 per Cooper card in bulk, and the rest of the lot costs me between $6 to $12. Figuring out this formula has been such a big step forward for my business.
Sometimes reselling, especially with cards, is mostly timing. I picked up 2 copies of this Devon Witherspoon 2023 Panini Select red wave auto patch from the Panini Rewards site a few weeks back for about $25 in Panini Rewards points. I would have loved to get more, but however many copies were available sold out by the time I completed checkout. I slacked about a week on listing mine, at which point the other copies had all sold in the $40 to $60 range. Those are card flippers trying to beat the market and do the math. But sometimes I have more knowledge than them. I thought I could get more for this card — Witherspoon is a good player, it’s a nice auto patch rookie. I priced mine at $100 and sure enough, it sold for full price. The other copy I have doesn’t have as nice of a patch, but I’ll put $100 or best offer on it and see what happens.
I sold this autographed Drew Waters baseball for $20, not a bad price considering he isn’t really an established or a major prospect. I didn’t know this until finding the listing, but apparently players signing their full name is somewhat rare. So are inscriptions along with the signature. Usually there is an extra fee for that. Of course, the most important value driver for any signature is a COA from a solid company like Beckett, JSA, or in the case of this ball, PSA. This cost me $4 last May, from one of my favorite consigners who way undercharged me on the shipping, which is a big reason why they’re one of my favorites.
What did you sell this week?

Custom Bundle Ralph Lauren WorkWear (F42) RRL brown jeans (I31) Lot of 2 pair
This buyer has messaged me off/on for about a month. Finally we got to an agreeable price and I made a custom listing to make his life easier. I tell ya, ebay has RUINED the store shopping experience for buyers. Combined shipping is a joke and doesn’t work when paired with offers.

Nike Indianapolis Motor Speedway Polo Shirt Dri-Fit Indy 500 Size XL NWT Pink
Sometimes you can find gems at Goodwill. This is one of them. It did take a while to sell, but sold for full price. Paid $4.

Lexmark 40X6401 TRANSFER MODULE MAINTENANCE KIT
Paid $10 for this at a surplus place. Sold on offer for $200. I got the offer immediately after listing. I considered listing for $200, but wanted to fish a bit. I let the offer tick down to the last 2 hours hoping for another offer or a BIN, but in the end I REALLY needed that sale this weekned.
Shame on me for letting this item sit for a few months before listing.
