I just purchased sticky shipping labels. Yes I was a taper for several years. Trying to streamline process.
Can you reinsert the label after you have used one side to use the other side? Is it harmful in any way to a laser printer? I don’t want to waste the second label.
I remember somewhere long ago I was told not to put a piece of paper that had gone through the printer back through again…. may have been an old wives tale or not?

i’ve never had a problem running it back through the printer the 2nd time. just make sure it is going to print on the correct side and you’ll be good.

Hi.. Yes, I have done it for years. But here are a few tips. Due to the heat which creates static electricity doing a few things will make it almost trouble free. First only load a small amount of sheets at a time. When slow I only load 10 sheets, when busy 15 or 20. The reason that as sheets are pulled through the printer, the label front coating is very prone to static build up and at times will cause two sheets to stick together. Then either they both go all the way through and you waste a sheet because it prints on parts of both sheets or it jabs.
I run all 10 shts. through using only one end and let the sheets pile up in my top catch area. Then after those 10 shts have been used, I flip the around and use the other side. After they have gone through the “hot” printer once, they don’t slide apart very easily, so when you put them back in, fan them apart and blow some air in between the shts. prior to putting them into the printer.
In other words keep the sheets “fluffy”, loosely separated as much as possible by blowing between them and fanning them. If not, you will find that many times 2, 3 or more shts start to stick and pull multiple shts behind them through the printer at the same time.
The full half sheet labels are worse about this. The slightly smaller labels with a small border around them leaves a thin matrix on the sheet and this acts as a spacer and keeps the sheets from sticking as bad. Some people find that the matrix sticks inside the printer. though I never had this problem. I am going back to the smaller labels [2 on a sheets] with rounded corners after I am finished with the full half sheet labels.
Hope this helps and is clear enough. mike at MDC Galleries in Atlanta

So I have this 30″ Pokemon plush I want to sell and the USPS shipping cost is the scariest thing I have seen this Halloween. Any suggestions on packing and sending a large plush for a reasonable price?

try fedex Smartpost or Fedex ground pricing. they might be less for a 30″ item. can you put it in a big, thick polymailer to make it lighter?

Yes, do as Ryanne says, check out FedEx. Think what you are running into is “DIM WEIGHT” issues. [that is dimensional weight. USPS has I believe an 84″ cut-off before the rates jump way up. That is the total distance around the “girth” [thickest part of the package plus the length added to that. If over 84″ , bam high costs. BUT FedEx I believe goes up to 108″ so that results in a much lower cost.
One of our members here on SL has the FitShipper Tool. Great utility. Bookmark it and use it to help you in these borderline situations.
Link here: http://www.flippertools.com/fitShipperListing/Also check out his other tools. He has one that you put in your dimension and it will tell you the best size box to use and also which is cheapest way to ship. Gives dozens of options per item shipped. mike at MDC Galleries in Atlanta

I wonder if you could get one of those vacuum spacesaver bags. The ones where you attach a vacuum hose to the bag and suck all the air out. They sell them at the dollar store and compress the plush. I’ve never tried this before for shipping but I have some compressed for storage. I have a huge shamu whale that I might try it with.

Hi,
I just sold three things to one person. It was one of those international shipping companies with a Delaware address. I want to ship them individually, but they’re combined under one label. What do I do?

I found this answer from 2014:
“Yes, you can send multiple packages, print through Ebay, and be covered. Do the regular “ship” thing for the first one. Then on the order select “print another label” from the dropdown menu on your “sold” page, and you’ll get the shipping page with a note at the top that you’ve already sent a package. Do the usuals (put in the weight, etc) and you’ll get a whole new label (new tracking, etc). When you or the buyer clicks on the tracking under the order, both tracking numbers will show up and be updated as they go to their destination.”
Does this still work?

Couple of options. If it is because of delicate items just box each separately then go to a Uhaul or Storage Center and get big boxes. I always keep several around. The ones I get are 36″ across and 48″ high and 24″ deep. They are only $3.75 each. Or if you need real large ones get a “wardrobe” box for about $7.00. But I have never had to go that big.
Then put all of your packages into one box. stuff a little [no need for big stuffing because you have already packed each separately. Then cut the box down [re-size it] to a few inches all around. Label with the one Label and you are good to go.
Next Option is to box each separately, then stretch wrap and tape those multiple boxes all together, then wrap that whole bundle in 8 mil, heavy, black contractors plastic just like a Christmas present and tape it up. Label and send as one box.
The customer wants the combined shipping lower cost, but in some cases, combining packages so large they hit DIM WEIGHT Price tiers, one large box can get costly. Use the online calculators that are available, and email your customer to let him know the big box cost. Then just do as he wishes, he will just have to pay up mike at MDC Galleries in Atlanta

why would you want to ship each item to the warehouse separately? you can just put it all in one box, print one label and be done.

In this instance, I wanted to ship separately for a few reasons:
1. I had them pre-boxed and they were ready to go.
2. I make money on shipping.
3. Each item fit in a priority padded flat rate mailer. Each item’s value was approx. $75. Individually, each package has up to $100 insurance. One Large priority box with the three items in it has up to $100 insurance. In the end I decided to not deal with trying the answer from 2014 I found above and just put them all in a large priority box and bought the extra shipsaver insurance. At least I hope it’s in addition to the USPS insurance. If not, the number it gave me was about $50 to little…
A few hours after packing and labeling, I got a message from the buyer: “Please combine shipping and refund parts of shipping fee. Thanks.”
Yes. Ok, but I wonder if we even have a choice to combine shipping or not. It seems as long as someone puts multiple items in their cart first, ebay groups them into one shipment. Well, this is the first time this has happened to me, so I guess it’s making me think. Also, I upgraded him to priority before I got the message.

good points. i wish ebay made combined shipping easy for all transactions, right now it’s a pain for any location.

This is a dumb beginner question. From the above discussion of labels, I am gathering that there is a way to print out the label only? I’m still printing on paper and taping. When I hit print label, if I don’t do anything, it prints out two pages. I tell my printer to print only page one, but I still get half a page of instructions and tracking information with the label. I don’t care because it is just paper, but when you are printing on label paper, how do you get rid of this text?

When you click on print shipping label on the top right corner there is a shipping label preferences link. Click that and you will see this dialog box. Unclick the print with receipt box and it will only print on half a page.

Also you should buy Sticky labels, you won’t know how you lived without them–
