I know the picture issue has been talked about at length, but I just ran into a new hurdle regarding it that I wasn’t anticipating.
I’m leaving on Thursday morning to go to my grandma’s birthday party across the country. As per usual, I expected to change my handling time on Wednesday night from 1 business day to 4 business days so that I could come back on Tuesday and ship everything out with no problems. Then I realized I don’t have TRS anymore (I refuse to do free returns, especially now) so I figured I’d get ahead of the game and change my handling time tonight.
When I go into the bulk editor, I get a few flags at the top of the page… some items still need their UPCs, and I was prepared to deal with that during the handling time change process. But I also have an error for items that need photos – and I can’t avoid it, like I can’t just change handling time on all of the items and ignore the issue. If there are any red flags on the bulk editor, you can’t submit the changes.
So I guess I have a few options. I could strategically only select and change the handling times on the unaffected items, but most of my affected items have exactly one photo, so there’s still a nonzero chance that they could sell while I’m gone. I could manually end every affected listing and then relist with photos (likely new photos, because I don’t keep photos past a certain point and even if I did, the chances of finding them are slim to none) when I get back, but that would mean that I would HAVE to do that work – that there is no chance of eBay correcting the problem. I could forgo the handling time change in favor of Vacation Mode, but I’ve never heard anything good about that.
Right now I’m leaning towards manually ending the items and dealing with it when I get back. I have around 50 affected items and 650 total listed. I had direct messaged eBay on twitter when the problem first arose, and they messaged me back today saying that it was fixed (with the Revise “trick” mentioned on the podcast) but it didn’t work (again as mentioned on the podcast) – the eBay rep on twitter said they hadn’t had reports of it NOT working. Yeah right. I sent them all my info and some affected listings.
If anybody has any solution that I’m missing or advice, please let me know! I just bought my dream car today – a Subaru Outback – made possible via my eBay business so it’s pretty hard to be mad at the platform even though this is infuriating.

Wow – I didn’t realize that this issue would affect bulk editing. I have been on vacation since Saturday, but I haven’t had an issue because I have business policies set up. Unfortunately, setting up business policies can take some time to do, so it won’t help you this time. I guess something to think about for the future.

I didn’t consider that business policies might have prevented this issue! I’ve been dragging my feet on setting them up – change is hard. I’m moving cross-country in two months so I’m selling down as much as I can and will probably be ditching a lot of what’s left, so I’ll probably wait on business policies until I’m down to a really low listing count.

in that past when i’ve had red flags in the bulk editor for various reasons, i will submit all the non-red flag items with the new handling time. i take note of the items that the bulk lister is flagging and edit those manually after i’m out of the bulk lister. would that work for you?

I noticed that bulk editor was flagging single photo items and thought that would be a great and easy way to find all of the affected listings.
I edited all of my items to find the flags…but it only identified 9. It missed most of them. Can we trust any ebay data at this point?
