eBay is acting weird. Is there something going on behind the scenes that’s messing stuff up? I had to call eBay today because when I tried to ship with a flat rate envelope, it wouldn’t display that as an option, just regional A and B. The overview page on seller hub is showing no orders for today when there are. In my “waiting for payment” section, there are completed returns. It’s like eBay is possessed or something.
And for those having the issue with only getting regional a and b as shipping options, you have to put 0x0x0 in the dimensions for the other choices to pop up. Odd.

I thought it was me! I’m listing and it keeps “losing” my photos. I’m working in the listing and suddenly, the photo will disappear and eBay will tell me to use a valid link to upload. ????
I haven’t tried shipping today, but the photos were driving me to distraction.

Yes, when you go to ship, all flat rate USPS options are not listed. I called ebay and they said they are aware of the issue.
I’ve been having lots of other technical problems too.

EBay glitches here too. So far I’ve gotten thru the shipping problems but I didn’t have anything going out flat rate priority today. I also show 0 sales today although I have had some. Yesterday (and I think the day before) sales were showing up many hours after the purchases were made. It seems completely stopped today. Lots of positive changes on eBay lately, I figured that would mess up the system sooner or later.

Ugh…yes I’ve been having issues since yesterday.
Buyers can’t see shipping method or cost on alot of my flat rate items.
I have to send invoices when they buy. Also flat rate options dissapear on the shipping screen. I changed the dimensions of items and that made some of them reappear so I could at least ship a few things this morning.
I finally built up the mental fortitude to call their sad customer service and am on hold right now. I got a real winner agent……..
She has no clue… -

Okay so I actually figured some of these issues out while waiting on the guy to write his report.
The issue is tied to package dimensions.
When you create a listing, make sure your dimensions are within the dimensions that will fit in the USPS packaging or else you get the errors.
I have put in 12x10x4 for padded flat rate for years now. That will technically not fit in a padded flat rate, so the listing won’t show my sipping option to buyer and it wont show up as a shipping option on the shipping page.
It would have been nice if the listing showed an error prior to creating the listing, but noooo.

I called yesterday. Said they were working on it. But I have a sneaky suspicion I am going to have to change the dimensions of all my items. What a pain in the a$$. Does anyone know if you can bulk edit dimensions or are we going to have to go item by item? I just want to bulk edit to 4x4x4 and move on becuase this is starting to affect my sales and I am getting sick of people messaging me about shipping costs.

Thankfully I haven’t had these issues, but since the change over to new dimensional weight pricing, they are probably placing a greater emphasis on package size. Sounds like they are trying to implement a system that would also prevent the choice of shipping types that don’t fit the listed dimensions…ie if you have an item with set dimensions larger than a medium flat rate box, they won’t show that as an option. Good idea, if implemented properly…which sounds like they are struggling with right now.

I have been doing the 0x0x0 work around after an item sells but that doesnt solve the problem with my shipping costs not being able to be viewed by potential buyers on around 250 items.

@vintageiron That is a huge issue. It might explain why my sales are so slow the last few days. I know this time of year is slow, but it’s never quite this slow for me.

Yes it’s a huge problem. Glad it’s not Q4 and glad I have a day job. Its killing my sales.

Starting today, my FedEx invoices are showing up on the purchased items page. Like, appearing as items I bought from “FedEx_Shipping” (or something.) It’s bizarre. They disappeared one by one with each refresh of the page.
Combined with all these other problems, it seems like eBay is unloading a full AR mag into their own foot. Great going!

More like right into the groin. Yep, definitely the groin.
I’m 400 items in now on finding and fixing my flat rate items and I can feel every one of those rounds right into my metaphorical groin.
F(@#ing ebay… how I hate thee.

Retro Treasures WV. What are you doing to fix them? Are you going through item bt item and editing the size of each one? To a generic 4x4x4 or something so it will allow buyers to see the shipping costs? If so I guess that’s what I will do too.
-
06/26/2019 at 3:35 pm #64144
I am going through and opening any item I typically ship in a padded flat rate in a new tab. Then I go through the tabs to look for ones with the shipping error. I close everything that doesnt have the error and click on revise on the ones that do.
Then I go through and edit the shipping dimensions on all of them that are left. I’ve finished going through 600 listings so far.
What pisses me off is that I had 12x10x4. The actual package is 12×9.5. Basically I’m being punished for rounding up.

at least they’re making changes in the summer and not in 4th quarter holiday season?
-
06/25/2019 at 6:31 pm #64120
You’d think they’d test out changes before launching. Or at the very least, launch the changes in the middle night to trouble shoot. It seems to me that it takes a long time for them to work out bugs.

I listed over 100 items today (slaying the death piles)
Someone just messaged to ask about missing pictures–When I checked at east 20 listings are missing pictures-
06/26/2019 at 10:41 am #64138
Oh boy, I hope that glitch doesn’t occur again. I recall being on vacation last summer and trying to deal with one or two items that sold without photos. I’ll be on vacation soon, and I don’t want to have to deal with anything crazy.
I scanned my account using the website that was recommended last summer:
http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/BulkPhotoScanner.htmI used the FastScan option. It reported that I had no listings without photos or with bad photos. So, I’m good at this time.
When I used the program last year, I downloaded the results to an Excel file, and then sorted to find all the listings with no photos. I then went through each one and recovered the photos one way or another.

The hits just keep on coming. I sold an item with free shipping, but I chose Fed Ex when I put in my weight and dimensions.
I just went to print a label and the buyer is on the east coast. In the past I’ve swapped from Fed-Ex to USPS to save on shipping.
Well guess what – now USPS is grayed out!!!!! I’m being forced into using Fed Ex and can’t substitute USPS.

@retro treasures what happens if you buy a label on PayPal and upload the tracking number to the listing?
-
06/26/2019 at 3:47 pm #64146
I’ll at least check the cost over there before I ship. I walked away for a while. I’ve reached my limit on finding ebay glitches this week. I can’t handle anymore…

I got a response from Ebay for Business just now. They said this happened due to the USPS dimensional shipping update that was announced in May and implemented on the 23rd.

@retro definitely walk away for awhile. I’m sorry 🙁

06/26/2019 at 4:26 pm #64149
OK I found a work around. Probly the same thing retro treasures WV is doing. It is not a shortcut by any means. Luckily I have 2 stores so what I did was look up one of my stores and go through item by item. If you see an item for sale and it just says plus shipping underneath that is an item that will need fixed. So I basically went through my entire second store and wrote down all the listings that needed to be revised. Then I went through and revised each 1 at a time. the trick is that you need to make the shipping size small so you will be able to use any kind of medium flat rate, regional Box, ETC. My suggestion would just be put 4 by 4 by 4 down if you think that will work. Now this is not a complete fix but this will at least allow people to see how much shipping costs are. However if you have a bigger item and didnt pay attention to the size when you made the listing (Like I Did) you will likely get bent over when the item actually sells and you go to purchase your label. I’ll deal with that issue another week!!!

06/26/2019 at 6:16 pm #64156
IS this just for flat rate boxes on the sizing issue? We’re not seeing the problems you guys are seeing.
-
06/26/2019 at 6:52 pm #64157
As of today it’s just affecting flat rate boxes. Monday it was all my items. I think this is as good as ebay is gonna get on fixing the problem. I sell mainly heavy smaller items so I ship 90% of my items flat rate or regional boxes so it hit me hard.
-
06/26/2019 at 9:43 pm #64162
It’s also for PFREs, not just boxes.
I’ve just finished going through 200 items and changing any item with a flat rate option to dimensions 1x1x1. Sometimes I offer a flat rate box as a second shipping option (especially for shoes), so it doesn’t show up as an error by just looking at the posted listing, so I have to go into every single listing that I think may have a flat rate option.250 more to go. This is one time that I’m glad I don’t have a larger store.
Jay – that’s odd that you are not seeing the problem. Are you sure you’re looking for the right thing? Basically, you go to an item that has a flat rate USPS option as the only shipping option. Look at the listing as a buyer would, and in the place where it usually shows the shipping price, it instead says “Calculate”.

Pretty much all of my youth shoes, womens shoes under size 9, womens and mens jeans/pants, and all sweatshirts/sweaters/light jackets are all listed as padded flat rate envelope. It is HUNDREDS of listings.

06/26/2019 at 10:04 pm #64166
Well 6 hours later I think I fixed all my listings. Jay and Ryan I guarentee with 8k plus listings you have messed up listings. We have 2 stores with about 400 total listings. We had about 3/4 of our listings screwed up still today after Ebay said they fixed the problem sitewide this morning. I will say the did fix the first class issue. As of yesterday all my fist class listings were jacked too. Cant wait to see what other helpful changes the role out with the next seller update 🤪

06/26/2019 at 10:06 pm #64167
Yea PS it’s all FLAT RATE LISTINGS!!! That includes padded, legal, small flat rate, medium flat rate, large flat rate and regular flat rate envelopes. If you offer any of these as a shipping option you are probably effected.

Jay I see where you are coming from but it’s how I stay competitive and make decent money with only 400 items in 2 stores. I sell alot of small heavy items to the west coast (I live out east). Where y’alls listing will say $25 dollar or more shipping mine says 14.35. Makes all the difference in my market. I tied the offer multiple shipping options thing a few years ago and people couldn’t figure out how to understand it and all I got was questions about why is the shipping so high because at the time ebay posted the priority shipping option first on the listing. Maybe different now but I’m not going to try and go back. My model is working good now. Just had to spend 6 hrs behind Ebays pile up. It’s in the rear view mirror now and I’m cruising forward. 😎

I’m not convinced that ebay is going to fix the flat rate issue (I’ll be happy to be wrong). This issue has existed in the new shipping/postage page for months. I reported it at least 4-5 times. And instead of fixing it there, they propagated the issue further. One could argue that it’s not a bug, but rather a feature. If you say that an item is 12x12x12, then it shouldn’t technically be able to fit into a PFRE…
To be clear, I myself see it as a bug.
-
06/27/2019 at 2:08 pm #64187
Exactly. If you select any flat rate shipping option the dimensions section should be grayed out and not even applicable. Super easy fix. The dimensions are already known!

I had issues with shipping a package with dimensions and that one darned listing keeps showing, even though, yesterday it didn’t. Today it does again. I was creating listings and it kept shutting down, and saying something to the effect “photo dimensions should be at least 500…” and then the draft lost all the photos I had uploaded. I had to keep trying to create the same listing, then-after I finally was able to list the item, all the drafts show up-but still no photos.

06/27/2019 at 10:04 pm #64202
I have at least 1,000 items with padded flat rate shipping and my listings are not affected by the same issue. My customers can still purchase my flat rate listings. I just have to choose the 0x0x0 workaround to bring up the pfre option.

I finish my listings on mobile after I upload photos and the app always forces me to put in weight and dimensions even when I have PFRE picked.
You must finish on the computer.

AtomicStar,
What dimensions do you have set in your PFRE listings? -
06/28/2019 at 8:09 am #64209
@sonia I’ve never put dimensions into my listings.
-
06/28/2019 at 2:16 pm #64227
That must be why you’re not seeing the problem with the flat rate options.
I’ve always had to put in dimensions in order to get the shipping calculator to work when I pull it up when I’m creating a listing.

So, I just got off a call to ebay. Interesting. My solds keep showing up in my “active” feed and do not show up in the “sold’ section when I type in my listing. The rep was happy to help, then asked me how old I was. Huh? I told her and she went on about how I sound like a “college kid”. No. No college kid here, but thank you (I guess). Then she noted that I am in Chicago. “Oh! Chicago! I’ve never been to Chicago.” she stated. Then the rep went on a tangent about:
(in no particular order)
Kim Kardashian and how she and Kanye named their child Chicago, and how she could too
president trump
druglords
killings in Phillipines (the rep I spoke with was in the Phillipines-and by the way, it was 7:30 am over there when I spoke with her)
trump memes and our election
she’s 23
and a story about her cousin
….There was more. I just had to cut her off and tell her my dinner was ready and I had to go.I wonder how ebay feels about this.
