On the fence about downgrading Premium store

I have a Premium store with about 1500 listings consistently. It’s roughly 1/3 clothing, 1/3 books and 1/3 collectibles. The new Basic store would give me 1000 listings in any category and 10,000 in select categories which would include collectibles and books.

If I remember right, we don’t really get to pick what our 1000 listings are used for — it’s just the first 1000 that ebay chooses to count.

I’d appreciate hearing what any of you would do in my situation — keep the Premium or go Basic? It’s a $36/mo difference, but our FVFs are going up, so I’m thinking about that as well.

Not sure what you mean by picking what your listings are used for. All of your “select categories” listings like collectibles will be free. Period. So if you only have 500 other listings, then I would downgrade to Basic.

Here’s what mine looks like. I have approx 400 items in my store. So far this month, I’ve used 110 free listings – 72 as part of the subscription, and 38 from the “select categories”

@wbird: Sounds like you could downgrade. eBay sorts the items out based on the category in which you list them. You don’t have to sort them out. You can get a better idea by looking at your my eBay readout later in the month. Refer to the post above from @sonia.

It would be a bad idea mainly because the per item over 1000 listing fee jumps from 10 cents to 25 cents each. So unless you can guarantee the collectibles category thing keeps you under 1000, it may cost you more in the long run.

You also loose $25 in shipping supplies.

Wait a sec – I get $25 in shipping supplies in the Basic store. It’s the Starter store that doesn’t get a coupon. (Or is the Basic coupon going away?)

Premium gets $50, basic gets $25, so you lose $25.
