Would this be considered inappropriate feedback? No contact at all from the customer.
“CLEAR, LOUD SQUEAK with every step on Left shoe. Now I know why you sold them.”
That last sentence implies that I defrauded them. This was a pair of Born hard soled leather slip-on shoes, and I never heard any squeak coming from the shoes. I called eBay, and they would not remove the feedback comment. Should I call back and try again? Thanks.

If you really want the feedback removed, you will most likely need to reach out to the customer and offer a refund. Then once you issued the refund, you’ll need to send them a very nice apologetic note and a request that they revise the feedback.
There is no guarantee that either will work.
Good Luck.

It’s not inappropriate feedback. Its just the buyer’s opinion.
Like SoCalJoe said, eBay will tell you to reach out the buyer. Unfortunately, this never works for us. A buyer who leaves bad feedback without first asking for a return is usually just grumpy.
Sorry this happened. Seems like a silly complaint from the buyer. If they dont like the shoes, why keep them?

Do you officially take returns? If not, they may have figured they had no option to return. If so, like Jay said, I don’t get why they wouldn’t have requested a return.
BTW, I’ve owned a couple pair of shoes where one of the shoes did this. It makes them unwearable, in my opinion.
I’d follow So Cal Joe’s advice if you want to try and get the buyer to change his feedback.

ebay always says ‘reach out to your buyer’ so you do that and if they don’t respond in like 7 days, call ebay. it’s worth a try, but they probably won’t remove it.

Thanks for weighing in. Yes, I do take returns. I use the 2-week ebay return option.

Just thinking about this with a fresh cup of coffee. Would not a “squeak” depend on where the flex takes place and to what degree. If a person with a higher instep, different arch curve, longer toes, fatter toes, heavier body weight, lighter body weight, thicker socks, and many other variables, change the inside dynamics of any shoe even though the size-fit is correct?
Then if so, maybe those shoes didn’t squeak on you [just saying as an example], but did on someone else with different foot dynamics, then how would you know and that would make their comment invalid. Maybe ask him to try them on someone else, [which he isn’t going to take the time], and then present this argument to an Ebay rep. State this comment needs to be removed because it may be just due to this buyers body size and weight which invalidates his insinuations that you knew about it prior and sold anyway.
Just a thought.

Thanks, Mike. I accept any and all returns, so the reason is not an issue for me, just the insinuation that I may have tried to deceive a customer. That’s not good for business.
I would never intentionally omit information. The last sentence, “Now I know why you sold them.” looks to me as if I knew they were defective and sold them without mentioning this defect. From now on, I will wear the shoes to test them for issues. I may still have issues, but it’s one less potential problem to concern myself with when grading and describing shoes accurately.

Are you aware of the ebay feature where you can write a response to the feedback that is published along with the feedback? What I would do is write a response along the lines of “So sorry to hear about the squeak issue! I did not notice it when examining the shoes myself. Please feel free to return the shoes for a refund.”
The idea being that we sellers can’t catch every possible problem with the items we sell, and that’s why we have a return policy. And now everybody who sees that feedback will see that you responded in a professional, friendly, and customer-satisfaction-focused manner.

Thanks, Sonia. I did respond something along those lines.
