I had been considering moving some of my listings to free returns in order to get those protections, but sounds like I won’t need to do that now.

Yep, that’s my understanding.

I wish this document mentioned whether top rated sellers will still required to refund original shipping in the case of a false INAD. It only talks about giving a credit for the return shipping label.

And that credit for shipping is only up to $6. Many of my items go flat rate priority for $7.33. Well, at least it’s a step in the right direction. I’ve had way too many false inads lately. Last week a woman ripped a hole in a jacket new with tags to avoid paying the return postage. Seriously.

So Top Rated Sellers no longer have to offer 30 day free returns to get all these protections & sellers who are not TRS are required to offer 30 day free returns in order to get them. Okay.

I think you still need to be Top Rated in order to get these protections.

As a reminder to myself, Top Rated Seller requirements:
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/service-and-payments/top-rated-program.htmlTo become a Top Rated Seller, meet the following guidelines
An eBay account that’s been active for at least 90 days.
–100 or more transactions and $1,000 in sales during the last 12 months with US buyers.
–A defect rate less than or equal to 0.5%, with three or fewer defects from unique buyers.
–Cases closed without seller resolution less than or equal to 0.3%, and two or fewer cases.
–A late shipment rate less than or equal to 3%, and five or fewer late shipments.
–Tracking uploaded within your stated handling time, and carrier validation for 95% of transactions to US buyers. So Free Returns is ONLY if you want the Top Rated Seal on individual items which gives you a 10% off final value fees.

Oh great, this is still useless for most sellers. I am not top rated and will never be because I refuse to do same day or 1 day shipping. I also offer 30 day returns, which I think is more than fair. Free returns just encourage people to rent items. No thanks. Hopefully Paypal and adyen will continue to enforce true seller protections against fraud.

You don’t have to offer 1 day shipping to be a Top Rated seller. You have to offer 1 day shipping to get Top Rated Plus on a listing.
I offer 2 day shipping, and I am still Top Rated.

Is this any different than what’s been happening the last year? Maybe just a little more concretely worded?
Looks like we can take off Free Returns now to quality, right?
Be a Top Rated Seller
• Offer 30-day returns
• Reside in the US
• List your item on ebay.com and you are
protected whether you ship the item to
a buyer in the US or internationally-

@Jay,
According to the doc, Top Rated Sellers do not have to offer Free Returns to get these protections. Now, let’s us all hold our breath & see if Ebay calls this out as a “typo”.-

Maybe they’ve seen the data and it’ll go to the same route as “free shipping” did five years ago, which is no longer discussed or pushed on sellers.
