On the current/old eBay shipping page, it uses my printer settings to print so I have a shrink to fit option which is helpful when printing a label for a very small package. But the new eBay shipping page, it uses a .pdf, and it doesn’t have a shrink option that I can find.
While they allow us to switch back to the old version, this is ok, since I just switch back for very small packages, but when this is the only option, it will be a problem I’m using a free .pdf program on my computer now but will now have to check into paid one if it has shrink functionality.

Are you printing to a label machine (Dymo or similar) or trimming an 81/2 x 11 piece of paper and taping?

I print to an 8 1/2 x 11. I did find a solve with the new page. Instead of directly printing, I need to download it, then I’m able to shrink it. Thank!

Hi ctebay – I need to be able to shrink/adjust labels also (not only for small packages – but also because I ordered 10,000 peel and stick labels and they don’t have paper around the margin edges – so I need to select “minimum”/narrow margins or shrink the label to 98% so my laser printer won’t print the dotted “cut line” against the slick area where there is no paper to print on, or it ends up messing/ruining up the 2nd label on the paper with ink smears. I am able to easily adjust with the classic label page – but I am really hating this new label page. The pdf print option does not give me the ability to shrink or adjust my margins. I have tried downloading the label, as you mention, but I still do not see a way to shrink it. I can “zoom in” or “out” but it still prints the same size (free .pdf program on my PC). What am I missing here?
Thank you,
Sharon -

There is an option to go back to the old label page. You can select that and adjust the label sizing as you did before.

[This might be totally useless advice] I use an old version of Photoshop to open pdf’s- Gimp or other editing programs may be able to do the same. The Royal Mail postage label has a QR code which is the important bit, along with the destination address; the rest (RM and eBay logo and my full postal address) I modify so they don’t use up as much ink. I convert the logos into outlines. Flipping the label on its side, I can fit it and the invoice on one sheet of paper.
Some pdf’s don’t open properly. On a Mac you can use screen grab to produce a printable file.

The “new” shipping page took away the option to change the ship from address. I need this since I drop packages off where I work in a different zip code.
If I need to change shipping methods in the classic, I just clicked the drop down menu and chose – no need to scroll. Now I have to change the “package type”, then scroll waaaayyyy down the screen through the waaaayyy too large (but prettier…I guess) options.I’m trying to embrace it, but dang it’s terrible.
The “new” mobile listing app took away the “condition” field. I have no freaking idea why they took that away.
What is up with ebay taking away functionality in their “improvements”?

Please Ebay don’t ever let “Go back to classic label printing” go away! I also depend on being able to ship from a different zip code than my return address. If the actual Post Office it goes from is not on label, then that office will not get “credit” when time comes for the Government to choose which offices to close.

Hi Sharyn–I’m using the free Adobe Reader. I download the label and then once it is downloaded, hit the print button, then there is a radio button to resize. You have to go to the print screen to have this option.

Which Sharyn are you trying to message? ebaymom who is Sharon with an “o”, or me, Sharyn with a “y”?
Sounds like you are trying to give ebaymom (Sharon) an explanation of your process.
When I responded to her message, I did think for a minute to say something about our shared name, but decided against it. I guess I should have. I can see where there would be confusion.
Funny, but I don’t meet too many people with the name Sharon except for a friend who says she “collects Sharons” in her life. Her mom and several of her close friends are named Sharon (or Sharyn in my case). She texts me every time she meets a new Sharon. I text her every time I meet someone with her name, but its less often and doesn’t seem to have the same affect.
I did attend a school meeting recently where my name was called because I won a book. After the meeting, someone came up to me to say that her mom had the same name (both first and last). However, the spelling was different for both (the “y” in my first name and an extra “e” in my last name).

Sorry–yes, I meant to address to ebaymom, but scrolled up and must have saw your name instead. I couldn’t figure out how to directly reply to her message. Sorry for the mix xup

Oh, no problem!
Right above each message is the date/time to the left, and the word “reply” and a number to the right. If you click “reply”, it will direct you to the bottom, but, when you submit your comment, it will move it underneath the comment you replied to.

Thanks everyone, for your responses…
ctebay – Thank you! (I knew you intended to reply to me 🙂 Unfortunately, the pdf print ap (or maybe it is my printer driver) that I have just does not have any radio button to shrink, I have gone through every possible option and 3 different browsers and nada… however, you inspired me to find another ap that can handle this (may have to pay a few dollars but I want to have a solution to go to in place in case I ever need it.) I appreciate your help.
Sharyn – Thankfully I am going back to the classic label page for my label printing – but – we know this may not be around forever, hopefully they will never take it away. As for our shared name – pretty funny because you are right it is not too common these days… I have almost mentioned it a few times as well.
Retro & Castle Rock – Good point about changing the ship from zip codes. There are times when I travel that I have needed to use this feature as well. Hopefully someone from eBay is listening…

I was hoping this day would never come – but the classic shipping label page went away for me today – so I’m dealing with the issue of not being able to shrink my labels for a 6x4x4 box anymore or print correctly on the half sheet labels without smearing ink all over the lower page. A real PAIN!!! I honestly haven’t tried downloading to a pdf and then shrinking – that is going to add too much extra “work” to my process. I’m going to shop for a Dymo online right now!

I went to the new page and wasn’t given the shipping option for flat rate padded envelope, which is what the customer paid for.
The only way to get this option was to switch to USPS packaging and then it came up.
Adding another step to the process.. just what I needed.

So Cal Joe,
Yes, that’s a very recently added new “feature” of the new shipping page. It seems to have to do with the dimensions entered in the shipping section of the listing. They only show the packaging options in which the item would fit, according to the entered dimensions. So now, for most things, I enter very small dimensions, so that more packaging options will show up. I also clicked on the “where’s classic printing” on the top right corner and provided ebay with my feedback on this.

I’ve been using the new shipping page for a while and have been able to shrink the size of the labels in the printing dialog box (got this idea from you, ebaymom). Works great. I’m on a Mac, but not sure why it wouldn’t also work on a PC. Could you be more specific as to where you were setting the printing to shrink the label? Was it on the ebay shipping page itself?

Hey everyone, I think I solved the problem on not being able to “shrink” the labels on the new shipping label page. It had to do with my “default” pdf printer (it was an off-brand third party ap that wasn’t giving me a re-size option for pdf’s) – I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (for PC’s) and set that as my default program. Now once I “download” the label (one click) and then open to print, I have the option to resize. I use 75% for 6x4x4 eBay (mostly first class) boxes and 95% for regular size (priority padded rate envelopes and larger size boxes) The 95% reduces the size just enough so that the ink doesn’t “smear” on the blank portion of the half-label sticker and ruin the remaining label and the next print job! Sonia – I think it was you who mentioned may have had the same problem in the past. I still am shopping for the right Dymo, which I can’t wait to get and set up. In the meantime – I want to use up all these darn labels…
