Hi,
my name is Nadine.
I live with my boyfriend and dog in a busy little town in Alberta, Canada. It’s a nice place but quickly growing and we are hoping to buy soon in a bit more rural area but still close enough to the city to keep the commute to work bearable.
I moved to Canada about 5 years ago, so bear with me as English isn’t my first language. π
My Reselling Journey began about 2 Years ago. I discovered my love in creating things. I crocheted, knitted, did woodwork, furniture restoration (on a small scale), etc. I usually refer to myself as a sufferer from Crafting ADHD, as I have to try everything and can’t stick with one thing for too long. So to make use of my Hobby I opened an Etsy store and started selling my creations there.
Over time I started selling on Facebook and somehow came across the Amazon bandwagon and tried to jump on. I went out and did retail arbitrage like the big boys, discovered the fun in thrifting (mostly books at that point) and treasure hunting. Due to not being sufficiently educated on the topic, the gating thing and failed attempts in Dropshipping, Amazon kicked me off their bandwagon pretty quick. π
There I was with a bunch of inventory and no way to sell it. So I tried ebay and it’s been fun ever since. I’ve been selling there for about a year now and slowly but surely make progress. I dedicated a whole room to ebay which I am already on the verge of outgrowing.
In the process I found your podcast and have to say it keeps me sane. It’s a joy to listen to you between all the Salespitches for several courses and subscriptions on Youtube. You tell it how it is and your experiences taught me a lot. Thank you for that.
I love thrifting and finding treasures and am addicted to the Cha-Ching Sound. I am still working full time as an administrative assistant and am planning on hopefully being able to cut down to part time at some point as I’d like to invest more time into my business and my commutes of about an hour each way are quite timeconsuming and take a toll on our vehicles. But I use the time to listen to your podcast and make more business plans. π
I like my job and the people I work with. My boss lets me do my tasks my way and is very supportive of my “entrepreneurial endeavors”. He always brings me boxes and packing materials and once in a while gives me stuff to sell for him.
Besides cutting down on my drives to work I also hope to be able to add some income to the household if we decide to have children so i can stay at home with them.
In the meantime my Etsy store grew a bit too and makes a steady couple hundred dollars a month.
So we will see how this all goes I guess. I sometimes have to remind myself to still have fun with it and not get too caught up in the little things as I at times feel a bit thin stretched, between being a “wife”, a “fur mom” (yes he’s high maintenance), managing a household, have a job, have a business and satisfy my crafting addiction. π
By the way I just decided to get into Metal Stamping. π
Enough rambling, thank you for having me in your tribe ! -

Welcome Nadine. Sounds like you have a lot going on! For us, we’re really do well with slowing things down and just focusing on eBay or whatever it is we’re working on.
Curious about Amazon and Drop shipping:
–why did Amazon kick you off?
–How much inventory were you stuck with? -

Hi Jay!
I still need to learn the whole slowing down thing but at times I get carried away, thinking I am not working enough on my ebay business.
I was too inexperienced and uneducated when I started selling on Amazon. I got convinced by all these “Gurus” that it’s a piece of pie and you just need to “hustle”. But actually it’s not. You need to know way more than they make you believe and figuring it out along the way didn’t work for me.
I dropshipped a couple fidget spinners from aliexpress and they took way longer than expected which brought me a couple refund requests and bad feedback. Understandably so.
I got kicked off because I listed a restricted Toy. Just being naive and thinking that when I can list it, I can sell it because I’ve always been told through the app when I wasn’t allowed to sell something.
So I listed a “Marvel” item and when it was processed at the warehouse I needed to be ungated.
I am not sure if they gated this item while it was on the way, if it was singlehandedly my mistake or a glitch in the app. I’ve never received an actual answer to my questions.
Anyway, they didn’t accept my receipt from the toy store and kicked me off the platform.I had to retrieve about 4 or 5 boxes of inventory from the fba warehouses and it was an expensive lesson learned.
Looking back I should have educated myself more on the topic and not listened to the “Gurus” I guess. But wouldn’t I have had to get rid of all the stuff I accumulated I wouldn’t have fallen in love with ebay and eventually scavenging. Everything happens for a reason and seeing the changes in fees and the race to the bottom etc… Maybe I dodged a bullet.

Yep, live and learn. Sounds like you got off without much loss. Always curious what happens when people follow the steps the gurus promote. It all sounds so easy.

Yes, it does sound very easy and then you actually have to do it.
My loss wasn’t as big as my frustration.
But again, everything happens for a reason and I feel much more comfortable on ebay. I found out I am like you…rather find the cool stuff than scanning the clearance section at Walmart. π
Although I have to admit I occasionally still do it. π -

Hi Nadine. Thanks for the introduction. Your back story is really fascinating. Sorry you had some painful steps on the way to scavenging for eBay. I was lucky enough to discover Jay and Ryanne through an interview with Jim Collins as my first step into this world. There have been painful lessons for me as well, but far fewer than if I had tried to do this work without their guidance. Best wishes to you, Daniel.

Hi Daniel,
thank you for your kind words.
It has been an interesting ride for sure and I am glad too that I discovered Jay and Ryanne.
The podcast keeps me grounded and motivated, especially through times when eBay seems “slow”.
It’s nice to listen and see that it’s possible to make money reselling but also be reminded that it’s a process and a lot to learn and that there is no such thing like a blueprint. What might work for me might not work for you and vice versa.
I hope we are all here to enjoy the ride and the rest will fall into place! π
