For those who don’t remember, Mark Tew is a CPA that Jay and Ryann interviewed about a year ago. He owns his own Accounting company called.. “Not Your Dad’s CPA”. He answered a lot of questions about about Taxes and Accounting and Finances for online, Ebay sellers. Then he fielded questions in the SL Forum for a few weeks following that interview. He is a very knowledgable guy.
Well, I just got a notice from him announcing the publication of his new E-Book titled, “Reseller Finance” and it is bundled with a smaller book “Personal Finance for Resellers”. Both of the books bundled only cost $12.99 and if you use the CODE below it knocks $2.00 off, so only a total of $10.99. They then download as a .Pdf file which you can save and then read on your computer or print out as a hard copy.
The main book is easy reading, very clear and is approx. 75 pages and has the following Contents .. Love “Know your Numbers”..[ sounds like Jay] and the second booklet for Resellers is about 15 pages.
Introduction
You’re Not on Your Own
Know Your Numbers
Your Monthly Process
The Joys of Inventory
Reseller Tax Basics
Tax Deductions for Resellers
Don’t Fear the IRS
Entity Structure
Conclusion
AppendixSince Tax time is upon us and all the tax questions will start popping up like what is COG and COGS, when and how to account for my inventory cost, what form of business is right for me, what is and is not deductible, etc., etc. figured now is a good time to maybe jump over to Mark’s Facebook page and order these if interested.
I had to join his new Facebook page, but that was just a click and wait a short while to be added to his group, then I buy links showed up.He is offering the $2.00 discount only for one week starting today then the links go public, discount discontinued and the books will be made open to the overall public.
Here is the link to his Facebook Group page: Which also may be a good source for other reseller tax information.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/accountingforsellers/Then since it is a closed group, just click “ask to join”, and once approved you are all set.
BTW… I am not affiliated with Mark’s company or his books, just thought this information and group may be of benefit to those at SL for information about reselling finances and taxes.
Who knows maybe Jay and Ryann may want to do a followup interview with Mark since it has been a while and tackle some of the tax / reseller finance questions in WL.

Great tip; thanks, Mike! Maybe he has something to say about found items as taxable income 😉

I believe he does and also addressed that when the interview was done. You might try to search for his interview and listen to it and read some of the following weeks of Q&A in the forums.
Oh .. Think I forgot the Discount code in my first post: The code for the $2 discount is RESELLER20 Type this in to the coupon area and don’t forget to click the button “Apply” then the amount you owe will drop by $2 down to $10.99

Great minds think alike. Mark emailed me this morning and let me know about this new book.
We usually dont like advertising products, but think we may try to record a follow up conversation with Mark on taxes and reselling. In our first conversation, he was a little fuzzy on the topic, so hopefully he’s got it all researched now.

I apologize Jay. Didn’t think about the “promoting products” scenario. It was coming to my mind as a chance to get tax information that is specifically geared toward re-sellers which may help many of the SL newbies and keep you and Ryann from having to answer all of the same old questions about inventory and COGS and COA among other things.. That focus was meant to provide help not promote.
What you may want to do if you decide to revisit with Mark is to compile a long list of questions from here on the forum and forward them to him ahead of time and then he can be more prepared to provide clearer answers.
You are like Yul Brenner in the King and I, where he says to Anna the school teacher.. “Ha, I make better question than school teacher has answer!” … Dah, dah, dump tea dump dump [musical theme starts from The King and I at this point]. 🙂 LOL

No problem. I like Mark and what he talks about. I’m just a sensitive baby when it comes to looking like shill.
We get plenty of emails from services wanting to advertise to you guys.

Bought and read the book. Puts a really straight forward model how how to handle the financial end of the business. I found it really easy to read.

And how do you guys (Jay & Ryanne) have time to read every little obscure post on this forum, and run two businesses, anyway?
I have a theory that the “Jay” & “Ryanne” on the forum are actually a team of Russian bloggers working in shifts. 😉
As long as we’re off topic, what happened to the text formatting tools? I must’ve missed the discussion of their removal.

i’m not sure why the formatting tools are gone. i haven’t changed anything on the forum this week on the backend. and i’m not sure how to fix. i can ask our wordpress volunteer if he can check it out. hmmmmm mysterious.
