Managed Payments International Fee

In Managed Payments ebay is charging an additional International Fee for GSP transactions. I’m curious if you think it’s worth keeping GSP on listings. Have any of you decided to offer items domestic only because of this?

If your registered address is not in the US, please refer to the fee page for your country of residence for your International fee information.

Huh, wonder is this is new for international sales. 1.65% isnt great, but its not a deal breaker for us.

I also see there’s a Dispute Fee. Never seen this before.

It seems there are a few unpleasant surprises in Managed Payments. I just incurred an international fee and I’m not happy about it. As always, I try to pass these increases on to the buyer. So, my handling charge for international orders will be increasing.

Can you give an example? What did the buyer pay and what was the extra international charge?

Here’s a break down of the sale I was charged the fee on.

Sale Price $149.99, Shipping $37.05, Handling Charge $2.00, Fixed Final Value Fee $0.30, Final Value Fee $11.47 International Fee $2.47

I shipped this item myself and did not use ebay send or GSP.

Don’t get me wrong. I will still continue to sell internationally, to do otherwise would be crazy.

Perhaps I have been paying this fee all along and Paypal was just better at hiding it.

That fee could be a currency converter. So if the person paid in Rubles but you wanted USD.

That’s probably it, but I wish ebay would provide an explanation regarding the charge.

In any case I will be increasing my handling charge to $4.00 for future international orders.

This doesn’t sound fun either:

If you offer or reference your contact information or ask a buyer for their contact information in the context of buying or selling outside of eBay, you’ll be charged a final value fee based on the total amount of the sale even if your item doesn’t sell.

I’m not on managed payments yet, but I think that 1.65% fee for GSP is similar to paypal (they just don’t highlight it).  When ever I sell something through GSP, the paypal fee is always higher.  This probably has something to do with currency conversion rates.  Changing currencies (i.e. Euros to USD) has a cost associated with it.

As an example from my invoice, I sold something through GSP for $49.95 with free shipping. I was charged $5.74 + 0.30 final value fee and $0.82 International fee.

I dont like fees either, but I’ll eat that small fee if it makes me a $50 sale that otherwise wouldnt happen.

I’m with Jay on this one. Does a <2% fee suck? Yeah. But thats $43 still made, minus COGS, that I wouldn’t have otherwise. I feel like the added value of being able to list with GSP outweighs the cost.
