My iPhone 6 is about to give up the ghost. I’ve had it since it was first released, and it’s been a great phone for me, especially when it comes to eBay. Trying to decide between a brand new iPhone or refurbished. Are there any models that have proven to be problematic for the eBay app? Any specific model that’s best with photos directly in the app? Getting the model that works best with eBay is pretty much the biggest consideration for me when shopping, so I thought I’d ask the scavengers 🙂

Have you replaced the battery on your 6? We just did that and it works like it is brand new again…just a thought. For us it was only $35 to get it done with OEM battery at an Apple store – more of a scavenger fix 🙂
We also have a 7 – no noticeable difference with the eBay app between the phones. My parents have one of the original X’s – the camera is supposed to be better, but we can’t tell the difference when looking at photos on our phone.
We’re also shopping for a tablet for a Xmas gift for ourselves – we’re going to stick with Apple just because of the familiarity of the App as the Android App is a little different. We had other considerations (both our families use FaceTime and have Apple devices) so moving to Android would have limited the use of the tablet.
Not sure if that is helpful, but I would keep using the 6 until it is useless to save some money.

Inglewood, did they try out a new battery for free before you bought it to see if that helped? Or did you have to buy the battery first? My biggest current issue is the GPS feature quit working. Also, the phone is just unbearably slow at this point. Like when I use the eBay app, it takes a good 2-3 seconds for my touch screen motions to even register.

For our 6, before we switched the battery it was sluggish, and slow to respond. It would also lock-up for a couple seconds before doing anything. We read the battery was the solution, and it worked for our situation. It seems like it is a new phone since.
As for the GPS, we don’t use the GPS feature, so I’m not sure if it was functioning funny before the battery change.
The $35 I paid was in Canadian $ as well – probably about US$27.
If you live near an Apple repair place, it may be worthwhile just to call them to see what they recommend in your situation (as the GPS problem may be something bigger) – and if you can get it fixed cheap as we did. Looking at the prices of the new phones scares me! Especially after paying about $800 for the 6 several years ago.

Forgot to add, Apple had some legal issues here with slowing down old phones when the batteries were getting old – they came up with some deal with the Canadian government to install new batteries “at cost” and that is the price we paid – I believe this is applicable in other countries, but not 100% sure.
Maybe an Apple expert on the forum may be able to explain more…

I also have the 6 (bought in 2016). Mine loses battery super fast while listing, using my marco polo (video chat app), and taking photos. I will check into the battery switch as well. I have sort of a complex charging schedule for it so I can maximize time.
For about 2 months, I had a second iphone 6 (an extra we had) and it was fantastic. I used it for ebay and posh only and it was very good. I had to give it up to my husband when he dunked his phone. -

We have the iPhone 6 with no issues. If your phone is reacting slowly, maybe you have some kind of spammy apps or you are using up almost all you storage. Do you have a lot of stuff loaded on phone? You should always keep 1GB free on your phone so it has room to load temp files. I always delete apps I dont use.
You can also just reformat your phone and start fresh. This will speed up the phone.

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 6 Plus that I bought new in 2015 to an XS. I was reluctant to do so as I felt the 6 was a great phone.
What a difference in photo quality and all the other upgrades are great.
I could justify a $1000 phone as it’s the most important tool in my eBay selling toolbox.
Portrait mode is great for some things as you can blurr the background and make the object jump out, it has 2 lenses to make this happen.
Facial ID is also much more convenient than fingerprint, and it works with all your secure banking apps, it’s quite seamless, you just have to look at your phone and your in.
The Hey Siri function is great too, I can just say Heyo Siri turn on camera or turn on flashlight with no other touching or commands, really helpful when one of your hands is tied up.
The size is wonderful as well, I get the same screen size as my 6 Plus and overall it’s smaller, fits in more pockets, I tried out the XS Max and felt it was too big, I have an iPad if I need a bigger screen for something.
I’ve had it about a month and a half and I’m still finding new useful features.-

…and I haven’t even purchased a charging mat yet. Looking at getting a stand type charger.
