Just curious, being new to this, how does posting on Instagram help sales? I have never done it and don’t even have an account.

Honestly, on our side, it doesn’t. Right now the groups that I see are other resellers. Good for sharing data, thoughts, numbers, etc.

I have thought to create a separate stream focused on buyers. 180% different content…

Just followed everyone. I have sold a few things after posting them on Instagram. I try to seek out and follow vintage fans who are actively buying. I’m an Etsy seller and Instagram does drive some traffic to my Etsy shop.
Often forget to post though 🙂

i’ve created an instagram just for ebay related stuff. this mainly relates to my more “general store” model of selling (similar to what most people do on here) that i am just starting to focus on a bit more. this is for hard goods, records, art, clothes, etc,. also, ideas for building an ebay business, sharing items sold, items to list, hauls, etc,. thethriftingnerd is the name for this account.

the account i originally listed above is for items related to my niche, collections and cats. not really good for ebay tawk.

I have started an instagram account for my etsy store, it’s lisbonvintagestudio.

It does drive some traffic to my store (6% of the total visits), and I’ve had sales that I can link back to my account on Instagram – like this person from Japan that says on instagram that he can’t wait to get the item he ordered and tags me on photos of the item at his home after it arrives. It’s kind of fun, but I’m really not big on social media 🙂

I don’t mind posting often on Instagram, mixing random stuff I like with photos from items on my store, but I’m not that good at going after the possible buyers, it kind of sucks the life out of me to do it purposefully, like commenting and liking stuff if I wouldn’t do it anyway and thanking comments on my photos and so on… :). I’d like that to happen organically, but that’s just me being kind of a dreamer

I’ve just found out yesterday that you can tag directly the items on photos and people are directed to your store, and that’s a huge step in making instagram more sales driven. You have to link your instagram account to a facebook store and be approved by Instagram, etc and take a few more steps, but I still haven’t investigated further – it made things a tad more complicated that there seems to be different policies towards US vs other countries. Did any of you look into that?

I’m going to check and follow other accounts.
