I normally don’t sell too much of this stuff, but wanted to know if anyone out there had any ideas? Someone told me once that Menorah’s did well and I have sold some holiday glass in the past but hoped someone has done well with Seasonal Holiday Stuff. Christmas? Channukah? Halloween? thanks in advance

Not too long ago, I sold three artsy menorahs to the same guy, but in the beginning of the summer! It is not the Jewish tradition to decorate the home significantly during Chanukah, so you won’t find too much other than menorahs and dreidels. The ones that I have listed that aren’t particularly unusual do not sell as well.
From what I read on the forum, vintage Christmas ornaments, wrapping paper, and certain lighted plastic display pieces do very well.
Although an item is more likely to sell a month or two before the actual holiday, they sell any time of the year. So buy and list them when you can. You should list a few months early if possible. Halloween stuff might be a bit late at this point, but you never know.

If your have the items, then list them.
If you’re asking if you should go out and specifically try to find these items to sell, then I’d say that it’s not worth it. Holiday stuff is the bread and butter for retail stores. You’ll never beat their prices unless you have something really rare.

Thanks for the responses. I have heard about vintage lights, but have never found any. I just wanted to see if there was something I might have been missing. I frequently see lots of stuff after Halloween (Or any Holiday) and I wanted to make sure I didn’t pass something up I should buy. I don’t usually look thru that stuff as it all looks like made in China stuff that is not worth re-selling. I don’t know–maybe something (holiday) cool that I have never heard of?

THose die cuts are really early die cuts…almost anything OLD Halloween will do well. Sourcing it at a good price is another matter, but I’m always looking.Newer Halloween can do quite well too, so don’t overlook it. Best thing to do is study solds on ebay.

I sell holiday items year round – the best time to buy items is when they are on super-clearance (75-90% off). I usually buy high-end branded holiday items or gift packs that you can re-sell.
It amazes me how people will buy things like Christmas decorations all year long, or cosmetic gift packs with a holiday theme anytime of the year.

Veronica kills it with Holiday items, primarily Halloween and Christmas. Like most things, 99% of the items you will see are not worth it. But doing your research, you will find the good stuff. Look for the Vintage and Unique items and you will find the money.
If it is plastic, Wal-Mart looking stuff (99%), it is worthless. Fitz & Floyd, Dept 56, Mr Christmas, or old vintage & unique, then you may have something.

thank you for all the responses–I just don’t find much I guess. The brand names help a bunch.

Does anyone have experience selling vintage holiday cards? In lots or individually? I bought a whole huge box of mostly used cards. The art is so retro and amazing. These are from the 1940s and 1950s (postmarked). I also found 2 of these giant 1950s Santa art posters and countered an offer of $50 for one, then thought again. http://www.ebay.com/itm/332405474219 Couldn’t find any comps. If you see new old stock boxed cards from the 40s-60s I would totally pick that up. Vintage wrap in the package too.
I also heard this week that replacement bulbs in unusual colors like pink, orange, and black are very hot, like over $100. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvUX6JRLGSg This is the podcast I was listening to. This Christmas lady on during the second half of the podcast is in one of my Facebook pinning groups.

Vintage lights are getting very good money lately – I decorate my entire house with them (and my electricity bill is horrible for December!) but they have a look that new LED bulbs can’t replicate.
I use to be able to get them for free from family and cheap (strands for 50 cents or less, bulbs by the bag for $1) at thrift stores – but now they are hard to find.
I have a lifetime supply of bulbs (1000s of them and only a few burn out a year) – I have been debating selling some but may wait a few more years as they get scarcer. Last year I saw that the unusual colors were getting about $5 to $7 a bulb, and the common colors (red, green, blue, etc) were about $10 for a 4 pack.
