Hello there
I’m Mr H and I’m a vintage gear collector and sometime seller although I tend to hoard stuff too which drives the wifey nuts.
I’ve been into mostly gore tex outdoor gear like vintage The North Face and have probably about 100 plus jackets in my collection.
I’m based in the UK and only just came across this interesting website.
Regards
Mr H

Welcome. We’ve never had a collector specifically join our group that I know of.
Here’s the million dollar questions all scavengers want to know since we work hard to find odd and rare items:
–why did you choose to collect vintage North Face jackets?
–what do you do with them once you buy them? -

Now then Jay
Well to be honest with you I originally joined just to answer a question I came across when searching for vintage north face.
I just like helping people and the question that I was answering was related to my hobby of collecting vintage north face gear so I thought I’d help out, I also like a bit of scavenging too so it was killing 2 birds with one stone really.
I also like to see things that people have found, it brings back memories of when the north face produced some great designs.
And to answer your questions I live in the UK in quite a barren mountainous area so back in the 90s I got my first gore tex “Mountain Jacket” (which I still own) to use while out trekking the peaks.
After getting that first jacket I picked up more gear and it just continued over the years, I tend to prefer the “Made in the USA” items that the North Face made as they seem to be very high quality too.
And with regards to what I do with them well I usually restore them and keep for myself (I’m a bit of a hoarder) if some don’t fit me or I may sell them on for a fair price.
Excuse the long post haha I don’t half waffle on…
Regards
Mr H

Glad you found us. Many scavengers here depend on the passion that collectors have for the items they seek.

Cheers Jay
The vintage north face market is also awash with counterfeits that some sellers are not even aware of, I’ve had numerous encounters with sellers who would not believe an item is fake. If anyone ever needs a legit check I can help with that.
I forgot to ask one thing though, do you have a list or database of sellers on here that I can view with regards to purchasing items? I’ve not fully navigated the site yet and am just reading a few threads at the moment.

We started this forum so scavengers to talk to each other. Never considered that collectors would want to participate, but it’s a good idea.
You could post here about what kind of items you’re looking for:

Hello Jay,
I would like to share a thought. I would like to share that you not allow any kind of selling/buying posts to occur in the forums. You and Ryanne started a fantastic thing that allows sellers to safely (without competition) communicate with each other, share ideas, support each others business endeavors, and navigate the world of online selling regardless of what level they are at. Once you allow any kind of selling/buying (people being allowed to post what they are searching for), it then changes the dynamic. It has the potential to open a very competitive dynamic that may cause some sellers (especially if one or more is selling what buyers are looking for and post about in here) to disengage from the supportive nature of this forum and focus more on the selling. One of the neat things you and Ryanne have allowed for is for sellers to help each other identify items in order to sell them. Once a competitive dynamic begins, that may go away – who wants to help their known competitor sell their products?
In the mainstream world of online selling, we are all each others competitors because that is just the nature of online selling. I request that you and Ryanne allow the forums to remain a safe place for a “community’ of sellers to talk to and support each other.
Thank you for all you guys do to share your experiences as sellers and to support others in their selling endeavors.

That makes total sense but I wasn’t asking for the forum to start having buying/selling posts there’s enough selling sites for that.
I was asking do you share your actual selling page on this site or do you just discuss items you have found and ways to improve your business?
I’ve not had time yet to fully navigate the site and have only had a brief look around so far so that’s why I was asking about sellers pages.
Hope I haven’t rocked the boat or caused any tension as that is not my intention, I only came here by accident while answering a question related to my hobby.
Regards

No problem at all. No one store names can be easily found. We’re really just talking about the ins and outs of selling online.
