Last weekend I bought and quickly sold 3 Wisdom Panel Dog DNA kits. I paid $5 each from an Amazon liquidation store and sold them for $64 each all within 24 hours of listing. Fast forward to last night I get a message from a buyer. The code inside of the box that the buyer types into Wisdom’s website indicates kit has already been used. Buyer FREAKS OUT because she used the q-tip swabs in her dog’s mouth and thinks the kit was tampered with and her dog possibly poisoned. The kit was factory sealed so I knew that wasn’t the case. Turns out when those DNA kits (Wisdom, 23 and Me, etc) are returned or liquidated, the codes associated with each kit are automatically invalidated with those companies. I refunded the 3 customers and sent them apologies. 1 responded immediately and was very understanding. Still waiting for the 3rd customer to reply. The first customer is still angry I think. Fingers crossed that I don’t get an account suspension over this. Lesson learned.
Anyone else know of any items that should not be listed for reasons other than VEROs?

Yeah, I can imagine the big pitfall to those kinds of stores are figuring out if its a “return” or an original item.
When we sold on Amazon FBA for a year, we sent in a lot of items that we thought were still NIB. Turns out there were a good number that were returns and had issues. We learned we should sell things as NIB anymore but used (because we didn’t buy directly from the manufacturer). But then we couldn’t ask for higher prices and our items didn’t sell as fast.

Thanks or the heads up! I tend to avoid “New” items from Amazon returns. They just don’t interest me. Weird that they would sell them at all though, like what are you supposed to do with a kit that isn’t sent in?
This is probably old news, but like 3 years ago, before I was selling on Amazon, I was sending books into buyback programs to get cash. There was one book- STRENGTHFINDER 2.0 That was white and red metallic that would sell for *SIXTEEN* whole dollars (lol. to be broke in college again) anyways, I didn’t figure out until 3 or 4 got rejected that there was a code to go online that is always cut out by the time the book hits the thrift store. Now that’s my least favorite book, even though I’ve never read it. lol
