Hello,
My husband and I have been listening to your podcasts for several years and really enjoy the content, I’m just slow in joining the Forum community consistently. I remember in one of your recent podcasts, you mentioned eBay sellers who have been using the platform since near the beginning, and that would be me. I’ve been using it since the late 1990’s. I first sold a lot of clothes and shoes my twins had outgrown, and was hooked (I couldn’t believe what someone in NY was happy to pay for a pair of used kids’ pink cowboy boots!). Those were the days when I had to upload photos to a website and enter the urls in listings line by line. It has been a side gig for the ensuing years, until we agreed I should to quit my part-time job 2 years ago and dedicate that time to our eBay store. I have struggled with time management, space management, and listing/selling stuff faster than we buy it. I am truly a work in progress and hope to improve in all of these areas this year, and expand our store to the next level. I was doing well on personal goals until I slipped on ice and broke my wrist and had to have surgery, but hey…at least I didn’t to take 6 weeks off from my job, it has just slowed me down some. That said, we have survived through more eBay changes than I care to remember (most for the better), and I’m happy to share some of those experiences from the early days to the present.

Welcome, Wendy.
I can so relate to everything you mentioned, including the broken wrist! I broke mine two years ago. Did you get the titanium plate?
I have been exclusively on Etsy for most of the past five years, but like many, started on eBay a few decades ago.

Yes, I have a plate and screws. I guess we’ll find out next month if I set off the metal detector at the Royals games. 😉

Welcome WendyRoyal5! I’m fairly new to the forums and to selling on my own through eBay. Sounds like you have a good store in the works, there are lots of suggestions and inspiration here on the forums to help with the processes.

Howdy, Wendy! Is it safe to assume you are in the Kansas City area too?
I have a regular full-time job, but restarted my reselling due to stagnant wages and increasing expenses. And, it’s fun!
I too am a “work in progress.” I’ve been working on my systems, especially my inventory and storage.
I hope you heal well and have a fun time at the Royals games! -

Welcome Wendy. We find all this is a constant learning experience. IF we think we have it “figured out”, we’re usually unpleasantly surprised.

Welcome Wendy. In the last few years I have twisted, then broken my ankle on two separate occasions with some near misses since then. Like you, these injuries have not stopped me, but definitely made me more cautious.
When I look at past solds on Worthpoint, I am always amazed at some of the prices items sold for back in the oldest listings compared to contemporary prices. I suspect that in the early days, there were not enough people listing items so when an item came up for sale, it could still appear to be rare and sought after and people would bid each other up to obtain it. Now, there are likely to be a few dozen examples and sellers are racing each other to be the lowest priced.
