Handling Time in Older Listings Glitch

I’ve been working through my old inventory and updating the listings. Today I found more than 25 listings that showed extended handling time of 10 days or more. I have a 3 day handling time. I’m sure it’s happened when we’ve been on vacation and updated the time after our return. However, for some reason not all updated.

I tried searching for listings with handling time more than 3 business days under active listings but the search came back with 0 listings. I’ve used the “edit all” option for now and changed the handling time again back to 3 days.

Just a heads up for those that may change handling time for vacation purposes from time to time. You may want to do a spot check. It seemed to be mostly on the listings without sales for 16 months or longer.

I have seen a few of my orders waiting to ship with longer handling times that the 1 day I have set. I haven’t taken time to dig into the issue other than to verify that my business policies are set to 1 day for domestic.

This is another good reason to use Business Policies to set up Shipping as a policy.

If you had pending offers while on vacation with the longer handling time, bulk editing would have missed the change back. This may explain the discrepancy.

I went on and off extended handling this summer twice and both times had problems with all listings updating, though the items that did not change were flagged in the process with a “sorry, something went wrong try again later” message or something like that, if I recall. (I don’t have business policies, and there were no offers outstanding.)

One such item sold shortly thereafter so my initial theory was that they were in peoples’ shopping carts.

But when I called eBay they said it was because I was using Internet Explorer and I needed to change Chrome when logging into my account. I had no further problems after doing so.
