Had a dog coat listed. I had a picture of the size tag and pictures of the tape measure on the coat. Lady contacted me very upset because my sizing was off she said she hated to leave a negative but…. And I thought gotcha 🙂 I have free returns and told her she was welcome to return. Based on her feedback left I think she was angling for a partial refund. So instead she left a negative about how I made no attempt to make her happy etc. I called ebay and the agreed it was feedback extortion and removed it. Yay! The rep told me to never engage with a buyer after they send feedback extortion and call ebay and let them handle it. Has anyone heard that before? Also the feedback was posted the first day of my out of the country vacation so it sat on my record for six days before I could get home and called. Sales seemed to do just fine with it. So if you can’t get to the phone right away don’t panic.

Yep, feedback extortion is actually great because eBay will always reverse that feedback. We actually love it when buyers try to get a refund “or else”. And yes, never argue with grumpy buyers.
Also, even when we do get negative or neutral feedbacks, it doesnt affect sales. We’d need to have consistently bad feedback for it to affect our status.

Jay I’m sorry I didn’t phrase that right. He said to turn them in for extortion before I get a negative and let ebay handle it. I thought it was interesting. I can’t see them doing anything before you get feedback but hey who knows…

I can see why sellers just bend over and take it with free returns.
I just got an INAD today on a camera. In the title it says “for parts or repair”. In the condition I state this camera DOES NOT WORK – it will not advance or fire, it is locked up. In the description I repeat all of this.
The INAD case reason – buyer says it doesn’t work.
It is absurd that sellers should have to deal with this BS. The system for this should be simple. As a seller I should be able to appeal immediately once a buyer opens an INAD case. A very simple and quick review would show the buyer is wrong. The return should automatically be changed to a standard return request where the buyer handles shipping.
Why is this soooo hard for ebay??? This would end all of these issues.I hate that I am letting this occupy my headspace…

I have a neutral for an item someone said was damaged, but never contacted me for a replacement or refund. I hate looking at that neutral – but just assumed it was a waste of time to call for a neutral. Maybe I will try….

We always try since we call eBay at least once every couple weeks about some matter. Sometimes we get a good rep that sees our POV.

I’ve had two neutrals in the last couple months…they bug me, but I just let them be.
Neutral feedback doesn’t affect my 100% score, so I’m OK with it. And the comments left were not bad (one was someone that didn’t like an item didn’t have instructions – which it didn’t have in the listing; the second was due to lengthy delivery time out of my control).

Late deliveries outside of your control are very easy to get removed by a call to eBay as long as your shipping date was within your stated time.

I let neutrals slide, especially if it was a higher value item. I respond to the neutral.
Currently I have two neutrals. Don’t bother me one bit.

I called and got my neutral deleted/ reversed! I am happy that I did. It seemed to help that I had multi-quan of the item, and buyer didn’t reach out for replacement of the “defective” item.
